Digital camera Review: Great BIG backpack type bag Summary: 5 Stars
This bag is very nice, altough it is BIG. I carry a Nikon D2Xs pro-digital camera with a large 18-200 mm VRII lens mounted, a SB800 flash and sometimes a second lens in this bag. It takes a little getting used to how to work the straps (buy it and you'll see what I mean), but once you figure it out, you'll find it very comfortable to travel with. It's well padded and weather proof. I like that you can flip it around to your front, partially unzip the main compartment, and then get the camera out very easily.
Digital camera Review: Great Bag Summary: 5 Stars
Have been into film photography for 30 years (PENTAX SPOTMATIC)cir. 1968 and am just now taking the step into digital after a couple of P/S cameras. It takes awhile to teach an old dog new tricks.
After picking up a 40D with Battery Grip and the 28-135 IS, I bought the LowePro Slingshot 200. An EF 70-300, I had bought my daughter 5 years prior (she doesn't use it, D---)went in one of the lens pockets. After about a month, to let the wife digest this "investment" I started getting the rest of the stuff. Before I retire, I decided, to get what I thought I would need and have been anwering the door bell from UPS for the last week. :)
My 17-55 IS along with a lens hood, showed up and went on the 40D and the 28-135 IS went in the second lens compartment. The AA battery pack for the battery grip slides in front of either IS lens mounted on the camera with a pad between,to protect both. A 580EX was next and went in the top compartment. 4 B+W filters arrived today and 2 went on the IS lens and the other 2 Polarizers and a spare box lay on top of the padded area over one lens. A Stofen Omni diffuser fits snuggly in there also. It can also be stowed on the 580EX in the top compartment, but it is a tight fit. A Canon remote switch fits in the top compartment along with a couple of extra CF cards. A Mini Dust Off and the USB cable are in a Crown Royal bag over the second lens with the battery charger. My manuals for the 40D and the 580EX are in the front compartment, for easy and repeated access and refrerence.
The last thing I am waiting for is a lens hood for the 28-135 IS. This could be a challenge, but it should fit nicely, reversed like the 17-55 IS hood.
Except for a couple of small areas along side of the camera body, there isn't much room for much else. I set it on the scale and it topped out at 10 lbs. and nothing is rattling around. Guess I will have to carry my tripod over the other shoulder.
I particularily liked the attached lens cloth which will protect the LCD on the back of the camera. I didn't realize it could be used for this until reading about it in previous reviews. I was always worried about the strap laying on the LCD and tried to make sure it was out of the way. The weather protector will also come in handy.
Since I am always dropping things, the safety snaps, which only allow the zippers to open to a point for access to the camera body only, are particularly handy. The last thing you need is for all your gear to be laying on the ground or concrete in front of you, when you take out your camera. The slide around in front of you feature, is also great. Of course once it is laying on your belly, the trick now is to get it back on your back while juggling the camera. I'm working on that.
I think I got lucky when this bag was recomended to me. It is very well constructed and will serve me well for years to come.
Digital camera Review: Great Bag Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this bag after reading all the positive reviews and really like it. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would have liked it to have a bigger upper compartment. The camera bag is well cushioned and I like the multiple separate panels that velcro in and are highly customizable. The weather cover is also cool. It's integral to the bag and stored away in a thin compartment in the back of the bag that's accessed from the bottom. It really is well-hidden and you have to look to find it the first time. The sling strap is the best part. It really does work like the pictures show with the ability to slide it around your body and access it from the side. A great bag for travel and hiking.
Digital camera Review: Great Bag Summary: 5 Stars
Overall I'm very happy with this bag. I have 1 body, 18-55 and 50-250 lenses, and a flash, with room for 1 more lens. Looking back, I would probably have gone with the next size up because I want to add another camera body. The construction seems solid and has lots of room for accessories. Haven't tried out the rain hood yet. The design allows you to carry it on your back, but then quickly move it to your front to easily access your camera, without everything else falling out.
