This is a pretty simple product - it bounces some light forward and lets the rest bounce off the ceiling. It's really only usable in situations where ceiling bounced flash would be workable, but the little bit of forward light seems to add some punch to the image.
It's awesome with Canon's ETTL flashes because they work out all the exposure automatically.

The 80-20 enlarges and redirects 20% of the light at a 90° angle from the flash and allows 80% of the light to pass on, to be redirected by another surface -- most likely a ceiling.Application: This device illuminates the scene with light bouncing off the ceiling while providing "fill" light off the bounce device itself.
