Digital camera reviews of MIDLAND WR300 Weather Radio

Digital camera Review: Alerted 20 minutes before the TV warning!
Summary: 5 Stars

Midland WR-300 AM/FM Weather/All Hazards/Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E. is awesome. Last night it went off about 20 minutes before the TV broke in with a severe thunderstorm warning with hail! If there is a tornado, what good is a basement if you can't get there in time! This is a must have for all households, a small investment.

Also, no false alarms. It has not went off at all until last night. You can decide which weather alerts to sound the siren, and which to ignore, etc. Very flexible and easy to use. Easy to hear all over the house as well.

Digital camera Review: Alerts Me Before Bad Weather!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have had this weather alert radio for a while now. Alerts me way before the tornado sirens!! Recently, had over 9 tornado's in this area, power was out for a while, record large hail. The weather radio alerted way before many times!! Back-up power was Awesome!!
This weather radio saved us and we had no huge damage!! Thanks Amazon!!!!

Digital camera Review: Already saved the day!
Summary: 5 Stars

Although we have had a NOAA radio on the boat, it didn't do us any good when a rash of heavy storms came through our area. So we decided to get one for the house. Not two weeks after getting it, it went off in the middle of the night 3:00am. We got up and closed the windows before the storm hit. (Did exactly what we bought it for).

Two features I really like are the SAME settings that allow you to narrow the counties down to just the ones that concern you, and the ability to run on batteries, as we have lost power too. The SAME feature saves you from hearing the alarm go off all the time when a storm is no where near you.

I like that it is small and travels well. We brought it on vacation and used it on one set of batteries the whole time. It is very easy to reconfigure for a new coverage area when traveling, simply set it to "ALL" counties, it saves your SAME settings for when you return. We live in the far suburbs of the Twin Cities, and no need for an external antenna.

In the event of a tornado it could literally save your life!

It is now a staple in our kitchen, and we use it to listen to AM/FM radio all the time. Well worth the money.

Digital camera Review: Amzon dot com ripoff scheme!
Summary: 1 Stars

The Midlands radio I received was obviously a store return or else a refurb. The manual had a crease in it, the cord was not wrapped up neatly, the radio itself had smudges on it, and the antenna had a dent in it. I complained to return it, and promptly got an email apologizing and stating that a replacement could be sent at once. I want the radio, so I agreed, en proviso that I didn't have to pay a bunch of extra shipping charges for somebody elses screw up. The new one arrived and so far is fine. I like having a radio that I can selectively shut off all kinds of bogus alarms, but here's the kick. I sent the old one back with a prepaid label, and because it was prepaid and there was no charge, I didn't get a shipping receipt. Well now Amazon.rip is saying that I owe them for TWO radios since the original one obviously vanished into the ether. Well my experience is that the post office doesn't lose stuff, but dishonest vendors do every day. Moral of the story: don't trust the free return, make sure to get extra tracking or insurance or something, or else you could be in my shoes too!!!!

Digital camera Review: As Advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

This weather radio replaced an older Radio Shack weather radio, which was a tough act to follow. It is easy to set up and works well giving me the weather information that I require. The radio works best when kept away from computer equipment (as with any of these types of radios). I leave it on all metro county codes so I can track where the storms seem to be originating here in Atlanta.
