In addition to playing both MP3 and WMA audio files, it also sports an FM radio and digital voice recorder. Additionally, it can be used as a USB mass storage unit, allowing you to safely store your important presentations and documents and transfer them to another PC.
The 256 MB MA823T will hold approximately 4 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128 kps) or 8 hours of WMA tracks (at 64 kbps). In addition to MP3 and WMA, it's also compatible with ASF and WAV formats. The FM radio has a total of 40 presets. The integrated microphone and voice recorder feature enables you to record short notes to yourself as well as important meetings and lectures. Files are recorded as WAV or ACT.
Playback functions include repeat one/all, play directory, repeat folder, and play random. The seven- tone equalizer features natural, rock, pop, classical, soft, jazz, and heavy bass settings. The easy- to-read LCD has a full-cartoon graphical menu and displays such text as song title and album.
It's powered by a single AAA battery, which provides up to 10 hours of life. Sleep and power-save modes help to extend the battery use. It connects to PCs via a USB 2.0 connection, and it's compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. This player is firmware upgradable.
