Digital camera reviews of Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 4-Section Pro Carbon Fiber Tripod without HeadDigital camera Review: Fantastic Purchase Summary: 5 Stars
I was extremely pleased with this product, the safe packaging and the speed of the delivery. I am in Australia and it arrived within 7 days.
I have read other reviews and to give those people who are looking into a tripod, (and head, my other purchase) I definitely recommend the product and the sellers.
To be honest after purchasing this item I was a little worried that it would not hold my gear sufficiently, but after I received it I couldn't be happier.
There are a lot of reviews out there but not a great deal as to what these item can sufficiently hold besides the total weight (in which my sole opinion on this item was based.with a 190cxpro4 and a 498rc2 head I can hold with confidence, a 5DMKII, 70-200mm f2.8(non-is) and a 580ex II. there was a little bit of sag in the, some say "scrawny legs" of this tripod but only about 1 second of initial shake is observed - none with a remote trigger. As far as the head goes.. there is absolutely no worries there, absolutely fantastic, solidly built and very stable. I was told that I probably should have bought the carbon fiber 055cxpro4 but I already have around 7kg in my kit bag and wanted to minimize the weight that I had to carry. I think either of these 2 product would be more than sufficient but i really love the 190cxpro4 tripod and the 498rc2 head
Digital camera Review: Great Tripod Summary: 5 Stars
I spent alot of time trying to find the right tripod. I needed one that was light-weight and fairly compact for hiking. While I would have liked it if was a bit shorter when folded up, I decided that the other features of the tripod made this my prime choice.
I have found the horizontal function to be incredibly useful, far more than I anticipated. It is quick and easy to switch from vertical to horizontal in the field, and can be quite sturdy in the horizontal position as long as the tripod is set up in the right position.
The lever locks on the legs are nice, although they take a little effort to lock and unlock. I do think that the twist locks on other tripods such as the gitzos are quicker and easier to set, as well as being far more compact. But I didn't have a gitzo budget and in the field I don't think it's that big of a deal anyway.
Spiked feet would have been nice, but you can always order replacement feet, which I probably will do in the future although so far I really haven't missed them.
Digital camera Review: Great Tripod Summary: 5 Stars
I have been wanting a quality tripod for some time. When my Manfrotto Carbon Fiber Tripod recently arrived in time for a trip to Yosemite I was delighted. The ease of use is fantastic. I was able to leave the legs extended so I could hop in and out of the car to take pictures of the fabulous falls of Yosemite. I highly recommend this product.
Digital camera Review: I Love these Legs! Summary: 5 Stars
I compared various different tripods for months. I wanted lightweight and different shooting options. These legs fit the bill.
Pros
Lightweight
wide variety of setup options (including the ability to raise the leg)
Can shoot vertical or horizontal. (Center column will raise up and turn horizontal)
Quick release legs (easy to adjust)
Level
Cons
No spike feet for dirt or softer surface
Does not fit in Manfrotto Bag with head attached (I have the joystick)
If weight is an issue or you simply want the best legs, I highly recommend.
I would also recommend going to your local camera shop and trying all the tripods. There are so many options you are sure to find what works best for you. Then come search for the best price (so far for my purchases, Amazon has been consistently the best price).
Digital camera Review: Indulgent cost Summary: 3 Stars
For its cost, the manufacturer should better secure the bolt caps that easily fall off. An otherwise insignificant problem for a well functioning tripod (after 10 months of use), the price of this carbon-light equipment is largely justified by pride of ownership rather than extra functionality or weight saving. Unless you have an emotional relationship with your photographic equipment or you really need to save a few ounces (mountain climbing for example), the cost of this tripod does not justify its superiority to comparable products.
