Digital camera reviews of Manfrotto 486RC2 Compact Ball Head with RC2 Rapid Connect SystemDigital camera Review: Ball Head used with a Monopod Summary: 5 Stars
Great product. I bought this product in conjunction with the Manfrotto 681B Monopod. The 486RC2 is fairly light but does add a bit of weight to the top of this setup. This unit suited my needs well, I didn't need all the bells and whistles, especially when using it on a monopod.
These are the first Manfrotto products I have bought, but will not be the last. I would also recommend this to friends and family, as well.
Digital camera Review: Best Value for a Ball Head Summary: 5 Stars
This is clearly the best value for a Ball Head on the market. I've used many and nothing out there comes even close as far as value. This head is beefy enough for a 300 f2.8 yet it'll work great on a big Joby.
Digital camera Review: Good Ballhead Summary: 4 Stars
I use this with my Bogen 055pro tripod and DSLR. Simple ballhead, works really good for its intended purpose. Good product for the price.
Digital camera Review: Good for What it Does Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great and affordable all-purpose ball head. Best used with shorter lenses, although it can handle the weight of larger ones. I used it with a Canon 5D and 100-400L attached, but it's a bit unwieldy with that load. Note: it is not for panoramas. Get the 486MGRC2 if you want that additional option.
Digital camera Review: Good for the Money Summary: 4 Stars
This is a well built ball head that is good if your on a budget. Holds wait well without sag. Now that I have used it awhile I am wishing I had paid up a little bit to get one with a separate control for panning (a feature I initially didn't think I would need at all).
Great value for the money though. (tested with d80 with battery grip, heavy fast lens and a speedlight without sag)
