Digital camera reviews of Maxxum Swiss Gear by Wenger Notebook Backpack - Blue

Digital camera Review: Best laptop bag
Summary: 5 Stars

This is truly the best laptop bag I've ever owned. Fits my 13" MacBook perfectly and still have enough room in the other pockets for my digital camera, iPod, etc. It's pretty lightweight and comfortable to wear so for travelling, it's great.

Digital camera Review: Big. The new look for college and high school kids
Summary: 5 Stars

The backpack holds my 15.4" widescreen HP laptop with plenty of room to spare. It has two huge compartments and several smaller ones. The straps are very comfortable. The only drawback is that it is really, really big, which could be a benefit if you need to pack a week's worth of clothes in addition to your books and laptop. Having been a teacher, I have seen the size of "academic" backpacks grow over the last 20 years - even kindergarten kids now need the kind with wheels! This one would fit in on any college campus.

Digital camera Review: Cadillac of Backpacks
Summary: 5 Stars

I was anticipating good things with this bag, given all the glowing reviews. I've not been disappointed.

Without naming all the features (which other reviewers have done, and to better effect I'm sure), let me tick off what I've put the bag through in the week since I got it.

I walked to school--I'm a teacher--in a rainstorm. Although the bag is not waterproof, it does seem to be water-resistant: the entire top of the backpack is made from a heavy-gauge fabric that seems to shed water pretty well. When I opened the laptop compartment, not a drop of water had gotten in; the laptop was bone dry.

I walked home yesterday with the following: 15.4 inch Dell laptop and cord; 12 student portfolios; 70 papers; two large class folders; two paperback books; tupperware from my lunch; racquetball gear, including clothes and balls; an insulated water thermos. The bag wasn't even completely full, and the chest strap and cushioned arm strap seem to keep the bag buoyant.

Plus, the bag stands on it own when you set it down.

All in all, a fantastic deal.

Digital camera Review: Definitely worth getting
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the coolest backpack I have owned. It seems to be very well-made and durable. Plus its pretty snazzy looking. I like that it has many compartments of varying sizes to hold things separately, so I don't have to dig through a bunch of items to find what I need. It easily holds my 15" computer even with a neoprene sleeve over it. Also there were some comments about how the bag is heavy and the chest strap doesn't fit on people of smaller stature. I am 5'4", and the chest strap fits me well. Yes, the bag is slightly (only slightly) heavier than a cheap backpack, but when you wear it on your back you can barely tell the difference, and the structure and support it provides makes it easier to carry on your body than an unstructured bag that weighs a few ounces less.

Digital camera Review: Durable backpack, but padding ruined my shirts!
Summary: 2 Stars

I have owned this backpack for 1 year now (red version). I bought it to carry heavy school books and my 15.4" Dell laptop, which fit just fine.

Pros:
- Strong, durable construction.
- multiple pockets to hold everything imaginable.
- side pocket mesh holds my water bottle.
- Top pocket is small and perfect for a wallet.

Cons:
- Heavy. I'm a 5'1 woman and this backpack can be incredibly heavy. It feels bulky even when nothing's in it.
(Wenger website says it weighs 4 lbs. 3 oz. empty) [...]

- The mesh padding on the bottom of the back literally "pills" my t-shirts! What do I mean by that? Well, the padding is made of a mesh fabric that has numerous "breathable" holes. However, as the bottom part of the mesh constantly rubs against the back of your shirt, it starts to wear away the cotton, and it pills into little lint bumps! It took me months to find out it was the backpack that was RUINING my cotton shirts! My shirts where the bottom backpack touches look like an old, lint sock!

If I could, I'd return this but it's too late now.
Do yourself a favor and walk into a store and actually try these laptop backpacks on yourself to see if they fit you. Some are much too large for certain body frames.
And DON'T buy this one if you don't want your shirts looking haggard!
