Digital camera reviews of Memorex 16X DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle)Digital camera Review: Do NOT Buy Summary: 1 Stars
Memorex 16X DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle)
70% of Discs were scratched. I just realized the Memorex discs are made by Memtek not Memorex ($30 version). So pay $30 and try the name brand or pay $20 and get a 50 pack of high quality Sony discs at a retail store (haven't checked Amazon).
Digital camera Review: Don't know how people still have coaster issues Summary: 5 Stars
I have been burning DVD's and all types of other content on these discs and haven't run into a single problem. Maybe its because I use a burner that actually works (LG products are good).
Memorex is a good brand as well.
Digital camera Review: Don't work at all on my old Panasonics E85H, DMR-EH50,-55 Summary: 1 Stars
Tried the new Verbatim discs because the price had gone down to around 23 bucks and they were getting rave reviews. Didn't work too well on my old Panasonics (see review there) so (quickly)ordered these (usually have used Memorex 16x -R for quite a while). I was happy to see these had come down to about the same price (up again now to what? 30 bucks so maybe they work now?) Unfortunately the ones I received (two 100 disc spindles)(8/6/09) have a red tinted dye layer as opposed to the blue tinted ones I was getting consistantly when I ordered these ... and I haven't been able to get these to work AT ALL in the panys (though I believe they work in the newer Philips machine) I either get a "can't read disc" message or the machines seem to read them, 4409meg size, etc. and then completely bomb-out when I try to dub a edited tv show to the disc causing a full blown "selfcheck" etc. The Panasonics may be having some problem - maybe a bad TVGuide system "update"(?) or something? But if so, it affected all three generations of machines I have here and it coincides with these different discs so...hard to know. The apparent lack of consistancey in brand name discs though is a bit maddening to me, "Memorex" or "Verbatim" seems completely worthless as an indicator of qualitly anymore...Buyer beware. These probably work fine in newer dvd drives in computers? Though don't quote me. It sure would be nice to know that a specific 16x -R disc from a certain brand would actually work with my machines consistantly not suddenly be a completely different look and cause malfunctions etc. Really like the almost blank surface easy to read my writing on them too bad I can't record any shows to the media though. Hey Panasonic! How about a new updated version of the DMR-EH50 (it seems to have the best tuner)that does double layer dvd discs (and possibly a version with Bluray capability in addition?) and and a bigger Hard drive and maybe a digital tuner too (but keep that analog tuner for my analog cable please!)and a nice long warranty. Just putting it out there...
Digital camera Review: Excellent DVD-Rs Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this item earlier this year expecting this item to have a high failure burn rate. I have burned through about 50-60 DVD-Rs and I have only had three to four fail. (of course there has to be non corrupted files for it to not fail). I have been very surprised and would buy Memorex DVD-Rs again. Would definitely recommend these DVD-Rs to anyone.
Pros-
Lots of DVD-Rs in the 100 pack spindle
Low disc failure rate
Holds a lot of music, picture, and other small data.
Cons-
Doesn't hold a lot of video data
(there's no more cons that I can think of)
Hope this review helps!
