Digital camera reviews of Memorex 700MB/80-Minute 52x Data CD-R Media (50-Pack Spindle)Digital camera Review: Complete Junk Summary: 1 Stars
These blank cds were almost half off all the others. I just figured they were on sale and had no idea they were unloading a faulty product. They are terrible! I've wasted a lot of time burning these cds just to throw them out. About every 5th or 6th disk makes a playable cd.

Picked up a 30-pack of these exact same CD-Rs after running out of Philips ones (which worked perfectly).
3 out of 6 failed verification after burning. Additionally, the packaging doesn't have a hard plastic cover - it's just all held up by a piece of glossy wrapper, so the top 5 or so CD-Rs were already scratched, and the clear plastic CD-R top cover had 3 cracks. I verified that the 3 CDs that failed verificaiton indeed hang upon transfer.
Going back to Philips or another brand. Memorex - never again (it used to be good years ago).

My first spindle of these worked flawlessly. My second spindle of these didn't seem to work at all on the same drive. Bizarrely, when I took a set of CD's to another computer, they worked great, so I figured it was my drive. Unfortunately, after buying a new drive, they didn't work on that, either.
Based on the other reviews being super positive and super negative, I'm thinking that the quality control on these things is pretty horrible. Entire spindles of bad CD's may be being shipped, as are entire spindles of great ones. My advice - don't waste your money.
Digital camera Review: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought a 10 pack of this particular brand, and I was thoroughly disappointed. Not one cd out of the 10 could burn properly, I had to trash every last one of them. I checked for file corruption, compatibility with my burner, etc...none of that was the problem. I got a bad batch of cd's...now I can understand 1 or 2 cd's being bad out of, maybe 50....but 10 out of 10? That's totally unacceptable.
I'm with the other user, I'm sticking to Sony from now on. I usually use Sony and went the cheaper route with Memorex and ended up paying anyway. Stick with Sony, they are more reliable and compatible.
Digital camera Review: Decent Burn, some Failures, Middle of the Road Discs. Summary: 4 Stars
Read all of the reviews for these discs and you will have very mixed emotions. Some people love them to death. Others claim they produce too many failed burns. Still others claim they burn nice, but don't last. All of these observations are true to some degree.
These discs aren't the highest quality CD-Rs, and they're not the worst either. Successful burning depends on a lot more than just disc quality, including which software you use and what speed you have it set to. If you set it to 52X, I can guarantee you that you will have some failures. Slow down the recording! 48x or even 32x are both acceptable, and will yield less failures. Don't be duped because your drive says "52X" on the front of it. Trust me on this one.
I can say from personal experience that I have had some failures with these discs. But they are cheap for a reason. I have to give this package a 4 instead of just a 3 simply because they are so cheap. Out of the $10 spindle, I've probably had $1.40 worth of failures. It's still cheaper than buying better ones of the shelf.
For those who must have high fidelity and highly reliable recordings, this may not be the disc for you. Invest in the Maxell or the TDK, which I have had a little more luck with. For those who just want extra discs to do backups and copy CDs, these discs give a decent bang for the buck.
