Digital camera reviews of Memorex 8.5GB 8X Double Layer DVD+R (25pk Spindle)

Digital camera Review: Do not buy these discs
Summary: 1 Stars

I've used Memorex DVD-R and DVD+R DL discs exclusively. I've had no problems burning discs with my Toast 6 (and later Toast 8) software and a Pioneer dual layer drive until buying these 8x Memorex DVD+R DL discs. I'm getting a 50% failure rate during the transition to the second layer even when burning at only 2X. The failure is reported as "Media Sense Error." I strongly recommend against purchasing 8x DL discs from Memorex until they fix this defect.

Digital camera Review: Do not buy these discs
Summary: 1 Stars

Worst disks I have ever bought. I had purchased some memorex dvd dl 2.4x discs in the past without any issues burning with my sony burner. The new discs I have not had one burn successfully.

Please note I burned a dvd dl disc with no issues 5 minutes prior to using these discs.

Digital camera Review: Do not waste your money on these
Summary: 1 Stars

Working with three different burning programs, one of which is the current Nero Burning Rom (9.4.13.2), on a brand new Sony Dual Layer DVD-Burner (purchased at CompUSA) as well as a rather reliable NEC burner (Both with entirely current firmware), with every resident process killed, My internet disabled and using disks from two different stacks from two different manufactures...

(I didn't choose to get Memorex again. I merely had no choice when trying to exchange the media at a local CompUSA as the store only carried Memorex DL's and they would not refund the money. Their return policy is not to refund money on opened blank media, even though to see if the media is defective, you have to open it.)

...the ratio was 2 to 3 coasters created for every successful burn. Losing the possibility of my system being the problem, it must be the media itself. Do not buy these unless you're looking for a way to make expensive yet pretty Coasters. And if you must, do not buy it from CompUSA.

Digital camera Review: Does not work with my laptop
Summary: 1 Stars

I tried these, because they were cheap, but as the old saying goes - you get what you pay for. These simply refuse to burn in my laptop (Sony VAIO FW 490 with the BD-RE drive). They did burn in my desktop PC but I had trouble reading them afterwards. I don't think I'm going to buy another of these memorex DVD+R DLs until they get it right.

Digital camera Review: Don't but these discs
Summary: 1 Stars

I used this product for a while and had no problems. I ordered them through other website since Amazon never shipped my order more than a month, due to out of stock status. Memorex changed the design to a new one - it seems like they did put some kind of protection on to the disc. I tried to back up my movies on the disc. It burns, but it doesn't play on DVD player. Even if it does, it takes a long time to load it and it doesn't let me resume from the point of stop so that I have to reload it. So far, I tried 10 discs, but none of them work like before. Don't waste your money if you want to back up your movies.
