Failure rate about 90% on my Compaq Desktop.
Almost all fail at 2nd layer.
DVD burner worked fine with Dynex DVD DL.
Digital camera Review: Memorex dual layer Summary: 4 Stars
First time using this product After reading some negatives reviews, I chose to try it. Happily, these DVD's have preformed well and are an enhancement to my video file.
Digital camera Review: Memorex provides a inconsistent product Summary: 1 Stars
This media is an epic fail and here's why. Companies, like Memorex don't manufacture their own media. So getting the brand once and having it work (or not work) doesn't mean it will work the next time. To find out the true manufacturer of your disc you need some low level tools, some help from the web and of course, a disc to sample. ...So you have to buy the media before you know the manufacturer. Useless! Knowing this information is largely useless since you can't determine one from the other when they're all rebranded as Memorex.
I've burned about 600 or so of these Memorex DVD-R DL brand discs. From that, I've had probably 150 bad discs. I've taken all of them and returned them on other spindles purchased at later date (likely of a different manufacturer. Sometimes a spindle will work, sometimes it won't). Disc manufacturers need to be accountable for providing a consistent product. No more rebranding and F-ing with recipe.
I continue to purchase these because they are the only because they hare the dominant brand of DL discs and I've yet to hear of a more consistent option. I'll keep buying, but I'm extremely frustrated with this company.
Digital camera Review: Need to burn at slow speed on Mac Summary: 4 Stars
I had some problems trying to burn these disks, and I burned several coasters trying different things on my Mac Pro. If you slow down the burn speed, I'm using 1x now, they burn without errors.
Digital camera Review: No from a Mac user Summary: 1 Stars
For a long time, Memorex was the only Double Layer option for me because of price. I never really had a hard time with the 2X discs burning on the Pioneer burners (DVR-110D and 111D) in most Macs. The new 8X discs are a completely different story. I've lost at least half of the discs. I switched from DragonBurn to Toast8, with improved results for a few burns, but then more "sense errors" a quarter to halfway through the burn. The reality is Memorex DL media is not preferred media for the Pioneer drives. It was never a problem till this new 8X batch. Buy at your own risk!
