Digital camera Review: Possibly the worst brand on the market, and I've burned lots of them.

Stay away from these DVDs. They might possibly be the worst on the market. As someone who has purchased too many Memorex dual layer discs I can tell you from experience that 50% of the discs in any given container (25s or 50s) will be defective.
This is across multiple burners and computers, so it's not them, it's the media. These things are still too expensive for that high of a failure rate.
I just purchased my first pack of Verbatim dual layer discs, and every single one of them burned without error.

I have used Memorex DL 2.4x ever since they came out. NEVER had a problem with HUNDREDS of burns. Now the 2.4x are no longer available and I had to buy these 8x. Failed burns from the get-go.
Okay, update the burner's firmware, update Nero -- that MUST have been the problem. Oh no it wasn't: same results. If 1 out of 3 succeeded, I was surprised. No one on any forum has a valid theory for the failures. As other reviewers have stated, the failure always occurs shortly ater the second layer begins writing.
Stay WAY AWAY from these Memorex DL 8x until the manufacturer corrects the problem.

Do yourself a favor and pay a bit extra and get Verbatim discs. I use Verbatim all the time and thought I would save some money by using Memorex. Long story short, I went through 5 discs with none of them working. I'm using a 15" macbook pro, I have never had an issue with Verbatim and have learned my lesson. I've bought this product in the past, and with the exception of an occasional disc, they all work fine. Well, things have changed, I'm 10-12 cds into this new package, and not a single one has worked. I pop in a different brand disc, and there's never been a problem. Avoid them!
