Digital camera reviews of Memorex 8.5GB 8X Double Layer DVD+R (50pk Spindle)

Digital camera Review: BEST DVD DL EVER!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 50 of these and the 50 WORKED, no problem at all, any computer and player can read them and burn them, go fo sure with memorex

PD, xbox 360 also read them with no problems at all

Digital camera Review: BEWARE*** 40% Fail Rate
Summary: 2 Stars

Notice on the packaging the disc's read "DVD+R" but then mysteriously reads "Double Layer" on top. These disc's do not qualify for an ISO 9660 rating of a true DVD+R DL. They are not genuine "Dual Layer Discs!!! Memorex has gone to new non-PVC compound and changed their dye to the "RICOHJPN-D01-67". Even using the best burning software out there (ImageBurn and DVDProInfo) it is easy to see these discs are pure junk. You will find about a 100% fail rate using Nero or any other commercially available burning software, and a near 50% fail rate with a more advanced burning software. The final discs that do for whatever reason make the cut do pass all quality tests, but the burner has an extremely hard time "finding" the 2nd layer. I would only purchase the old Memorex (purple wrapper) discs or the ones that clearly read DVD+R DL. Don't waste your time and money!

Digital camera Review: BUYER BEWARE!! Not all Memorex discs are the same.
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a review for the second batch of DVD's I've ordered.

Even though the label on the outside is the same, the discs are very different.

The first stack of discs I ordered and used with only 1 or 2 errors out of 50 were manufactured by Ritek (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66).

The second stack of discs I ordered approximately 6 months later were a completely different manufacturer of unknown origin (Disc ID: MBIPG101-R10-65).

Not a single one of the 50 worked.

I got an error every time. The most common error from one of the burning tools I tried was "Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format".

Unfortunately, I did not find this out until well after my return date.

(FYI, I'm using an NEC ND-3520AW DVD Burner.)

Digital camera Review: Bad Discs!! The 2.4x discs are much better
Summary: 1 Stars

In short... I had the Memorex 2.4x DLs and they were perfect. These are a complete waste. I am actually planning on returning them to Amazon ASAP! 4 for 4 have been bad. Stay away!

Digital camera Review: Bad Product --> Not Too Bad After All
Summary: 1 Stars

I've tried two diferent DVD burners using this media and only got one good burn out of 7. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. Memorex usually have good products but this is the first time this has happened.

The above was my initial rating, however I discovered that if you burn at 2.4x or slower, then it's fine even though it states that it can burn at 8x. Zero coasters when I burn at this speed. I would rate this a four star now.
