I decided to write this review because another older review helped me. This product can not be seen as a fix-all, but I will describe my experience. After joining Netflix about a year ago occasionally, not often, I would get a "DISC ERROR" on my 2001 model Toshiba, which was top of the line and had always been flawless. I was sent another disc and it worked. A couple of months ago this problem began to increase. I was told that some older DVD players had a problem with some of the newer discs, something about the quantity of information. So a got a new Sony which works fine, problem gone, but I don't like the way the zoom works, the icon never goes away. So I hooked the old DVD player back up thru a VCR in the system as an option. When testing it I found that about half of the older discs I had wouldn't load, "DISC ERROR". Of course I knew I played them all before on this machine. I'm sure you can see where this is leading. I used this product and now I can play all those older discs I have, plus every disc from Netflix so far. It's a cheap easy way to find out if your machine is just dirty, and it's good for 30 uses. My 5-disc CD player was having problems with skipping and repeating on tracks for a variety of discs, especially when in "Shuffle" mode. In troubleshooting the problem, the first step in diagnosing and fixing this problem (other than ensuring the problem doesn't lie with the discs themselves) is to clean the laser lens with a disc cleaning kit. I purchased this cleaning disc, and in one pass, it cleared up the problem. I'm happy that the skipping and repeating problem wasn't more serious (there are a number reasons for this problem), and this disc did exactly what it was designed to do. I recently bought a 14 year-old car and the cd player had trouble skipping from track to track and would sometimes think it had a CD in the player when it did not and would switch from the radio to CD randomly. I have a Sony DVD player that is a few years old. I also belong to one of those movies by mail companies. Although I would clean each DVD when it came, more often than not my DVD player wouldn't play the DVD. I could take it in on my computer and play it with little or no problem, but that's not nearly as comfortable as stretching out on the couch. I was going to either end my membership in the rental place, or purchase a new DVD player. As a last resort, I purchased this cleaner and it worked exactly like the directions said. I have had no problems with any DVD that I've rented since then. I would highly recommend this to anyone with problems.
