I bought this product for the purpose of cleaning the optical lens on my Samsung DVD player. When I put it in and closed the compartment, the machine rejected it completely. It said it couldn't read the disk. Thus, it didn't do what it was advertised to do. It wasn't expensive (thank goodness), but I have the same need to clean the optical lens of the DVD player I had before only now I've lost time and a small amount of money. If this product works for you, then I think that's great. And it might do that on newer models. I don't know. It did not work on my Samsung DVD player, which is about 4 years old.Digital camera Review: Didn't work for me...

I have a slot-loading iMac whose DVD drive stopped reading DVDs but was able to read CDs. I figured it was simply the DVD reader lens inside that had gotten dusty or dirty. Before taking my computer in to be repaired, I bought this lens cleaner to see if a few bucks spent on this thing would save the hassle of hauling my computer in. I ran the disc through the drive multiple times, heard it spin and the brushes do their thing, but no luck with my drive. I'm hesitant to leave a really bad review since my problem may have been more severe, but just beware that this product may not do what you're hoping if you're not completely sure that a dirty DVD lens is your problem!Digital camera Review: Didn't work for what I bought it for

I trust Memorex, so I bought this to use in my DVD player, which is a pretty expensive Panasonic model. I put the disk in but the DVD player couldn't read it. I got "unreadable" disk errors. Just to test it, I put it in my CD player. The CD player could read the disc. I let it run through one test, but it gave me some pretty lousy results - the program incorrectly identified which speakers were front, center, rear--indicating that I had my system mis-configured, which I did not. I put the disk back in the DVD player to try again. Still unreadable.
I returned it and am looking for a better quality DVD lens cleaner.

The product states that it works with CD-ROM, DVD-ROM products. The audio portion didn't work with either my desktop or my laptop. Worked just great with my DVD player and stereo system, though.
