Digital camera reviews of Memorex Slim DVD Video 25-Pack Storage Cases (Clear)

Digital camera Review: Fantastic
Summary: 5 Stars

Product did exactally what I wanted. It created excess space in my DVD storage unit. I will definately but more.

Digital camera Review: Functional and easy to store
Summary: 5 Stars

I use these cases exclusively for any DVD-R I burn. They hold up much better than acrylic jewel cases and saves space over standards DVD cases. There are some other "space saving" cases out there, but for the money and availability, you can't beat these.

Digital camera Review: Good Quality, great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I had ordered some black no name slim dvd cases with the plastic film in the past and was pretty dissappointed with the quality. These on the other hand weren't much more and were much higher quality. None were broke when they arrived and they seem to be holding up well. I recommend these to those looking for decent quality at a good price.

Digital camera Review: Good product
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree with other reviews that hearld the snaps that hold the dvd in place. They work well. Beware of other products (HP for example) which do not work well.

I like these ones! (Great price too!)

One consideration is that being slim, they might not work with some DVD storage racks (specifically, the ones that hold the cases horizontally don't do well with these).

Digital camera Review: Good product, but I like a similar product better
Summary: 4 Stars

These cases are of good quality: the plastic is sturdy without being ridiculously stiff, the latch that holds the case closed works fairly well, and the round fixture that holds the DVD in place isn't so tight that I feel as though I'll break the DVD trying to get it out. However, within the past month I've purchased 100 of these cases and 100 of a similar product, 100 x Slim Clear Double DVD Empty Replacement Boxes with Wrap Around Sleeve #DVBR07DOCL (7mm) (2DVD), and I like the other product slightly more than I like this one.

For one thing, the other product is cheaper than this one: 100 cases for approximately $35, whereas 100 of this product (4 packages of 25) comes out to around $60. In addition, there are a few other areas in which I think the other product is better:

1. The plastic seems to be of a different makeup. (I believe there are other reviews that actually tell what kind of plastic is used in each product.) These Memorex cases feel the slightest bit thicker than the others, but the others don't feel flimsy in comparison; they simply feel more flexible. I haven't had the cases long enough for any of them to crack, but I have a feeling that these Memorex ones will be more prone to cracking than the others will.
2. The latch on the other cases feels slightly more secure than the latch on these cases. For some DVDs, the latch on these cases seems to work just fine; however, the paper insert that you trim and slide into the clear sleeve around the case is much thicker on some DVDs than on others. Disney cartoons, in particular, have inserts that are so thick they're almost like cardstock. When they're trimmed and forced into the smaller slim case, they're very stiff, and the latch on the other product seems to hold the case together better than the latch on this product.
3. The other cases hold 2 DVDs, one on each side of the open case, whereas these cases hold only one DVD apiece. The plus-side to the others holding 2 DVDs is that you can transfer even 2-disc Special Edition releases into one of these slim cases or, if you want to, you can combine similar titles into one case (Crocodile Dundee and Crocodile Dundee II, for instance).

The main DOWNSIDE to the double-DVD cases is that they don't have a place where you can put an insert containing the DVD's chapter titles, like these single-DVD Memorex cases have.
