Digital camera reviews of Microsoft Digital Media Pro KeyboardDigital camera Review: Awesome product Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second digital media pro keyboard and I love it. I bought my last one about a year and a half ago and it's worked perfectly until I spilled coffee on it. The keys did get a little loud, but 8-14 hour days for over a year of working will do this. I love the setup of this keyboard and the detachable palm rest is pretty comfortable for being plastic. The volume and mute keys are perfectly placed for easy access as well, especially when you receive a phone call while music is playing.
This is a flat out awesome keyboard and I have recommended it to many people already. I am even thinking about ordering a few more for additional computers and if I spill my coffee again.
Digital camera Review: Bad paint job! Summary: 3 Stars
This keyboard is everything a typist like myself loves except for one crucial thing: the paint on the keys began chipping off within a month. Not good, Microsoft, not good. I replaced it with an older Compaq keyboard which was fantastic until I spilt a glass of water on it. Not good, Ruthie, not good. So out came the ole Mircrosoft again & here I am thankful I have it. I repaint the keys myself with WhiteOut so they'll ShoutOut: the comma, M, N, and I... the most popular, I guess.
Digital camera Review: Best keyboard available Summary: 5 Stars
Not that I've tried every keyboard available but of the many I've used this is the best. I actually purchased this for my wife to use with her laptop and she absolutely loves it. It's well made with a nice feel to the keys, the programmable keys are well placed and functional and it's a nice large size. For the price I don't think you'll find anything nicer.
Digital camera Review: Best typing experience I've ever had Summary: 5 Stars
This is utterly the best typing experience I have ever had with a keyboard. I previously used the same Logitech Media Elite keyboard for 7 or 8 years, and was worried about adjusting to a new board. I can honestly say that my WPM has gone up by 15, and my hands feel so much more comfortable using the detachable wrist rest. The angle of the keys and the resistance is absolutely perfect for typing quickly and accurately. It also isn't noisy, so I don't sound like a trainwreck when I'm pounding away on the thing. It's great for gaming, too - the included software lets me disable the left-side windows key so I don't accidentally knock myself out of a video game, which has always been a problem of mine.
Digital camera Review: Beware of End of Production Run! Summary: 3 Stars
I had to get two of these keyboards to get one that worked. The first had no or intermittent response from the "2" (in the QWERTY field) and "x" keys. The second had perfect keystroke response, but the "ALT" key on the left of the SPACE BAR had a red scratch on it...like a streak of nail polish. I can marginally accept that, but lack of or intermittent keystroke response was totally unacceptable. In fact, it was particularly annoying when trying to enter a password that needed either of those keystrokes.
As I titled my review, I'm guessing that since the product is discontinued, MS may have tried fixing and shipping the "boneyard" keyboards and didn't do a very good job of sorting out the bad ones from the good.
I like the functionality of the keyboard - especially the "Favorites" keys and the double definitions of the function keys. They'll speed up inputing while working just about any application.
Be advised that there's an update to the keyboard software, and I suggest you follow the instructions, install the version that comes with the keyboard, make sure all is working and then download and install the revision.
