I got this webcam to be able to communicate with family and friends in other parts of the country on Skype. I was very disappointed with it. The image has horrible video quality. I wasn't impressed with this Cam. The 1000 and 3000 are comparable in many aspects (according to there specs on the boxes). I chose the 1000 since it was 10 dollars less (29 bucks).
It works fine on Yahoo, but the clarity sucks. Maybe it was just mine, but I had a Logitech 4000 and it was crystal clear. Perhaps the resolution is lower. For whatever the reason, I wasn't happy with it, and I returned it.
