Digital camera reviews of Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000Digital camera Review: Couldn't get the microphone to work Summary: 1 Stars
I was in need of two webcams. I bought this (the Microsoft LifeCam) and a less expensive webcam, a generic Flexible 5.0 Megapixel USB PC Camera with Microphone. The generic webcam was super easy to install and the sound worked great! The Microsoft LifeCam requires software installation, and I could not get the sound to work at all. I was very disappointed. Perhaps it was just this camera and the rest are better, but I am returning the LifeCam and getting two of the other.
Digital camera Review: Decent low cost web-cam Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased this as an additional web-cam for our household. I have the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 / QuickCam Pro 9000 which we use on our laptops, but we were looking for one to stay put on the desktop. After searching reviews and prices I settled on the Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000.
Install and set-up was easy. The first time using it wasn't the best, but after tweaking some of the settings we got to where we were satisfied with both the sound and image. I would say that if you are just looking for a basic, easy to use web-cam at a very reasonable price, this is a very good option. But if you're going to be using it a lot and want better sound, picture and features there are better ones out there.
Digital camera Review: Decent low-end webcam from Microsoft Summary: 4 Stars
The Lifecam VX-1000 is a decent low-end webcam. Easy to install and configure. Works fine with Windows Live Messenger and Skype. It has a built in microphone and a button from which you can launch a Windows Live Messenger video call. It has a nice folding stand that allows it to sit on your CRT or Flatscreen monitor.
Like most Microsoft hardware products it has excellent build quality.
Digital camera Review: Dissapointed Summary: 2 Stars
Motion capture is very poor. If you are perfectly still in front of the camera the video is fine. Just don't move! Audio is very choppy.
Digital camera Review: Doesn't work with XP SP2 Summary: 1 Stars
I was simply unable to install the driver, due to Error code 1603. I then download its most recent driver from Microsoft web site ... Still no luck.
