Digital camera reviews of Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical

Digital camera Review: Exactly what you pay for
Summary: 5 Stars

Its an optical....just slightly better than a regular ball-mouse in that you don't have to clean it.

Digital camera Review: Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this mouse due to the rave reviews here at Amazon. Prior to this I was using the smaller brother to this mouse, the basic optical mouse. However, the basic optical mouse has major problems. You have random skipping when you don't even move the mouse and it was just a PITA. I finally decided to invest in three of these. I plan to invest in three more. This mouse works without any drivers. I use these mice on laptops since I dislike using the actual track pad. I haven't had any issue so far. You won't be sorry by investing in this mouse. Stay away from it's smaller brother, the basic optical mouse.

Digital camera Review: Excellent

I was so tired of using the old mice with balls so i went out and got this bad boy. It responds very well to fast or slow movement (the older optical mice couldn't handle being moved quickly very well)An excellent choice for a consumer.

Digital camera Review: Excellent -- but not lifetime
Summary: 4 Stars

Without a doubt, the infared technology is a vast improvement over the old ball mouses.

I switched from the intellimouse explorer( a better model) to this mouse, and find myself a bit dismayed at the lack of 2 extra thumb buttons that were present on my old explorer mouse. However, It has a nice professional look and works great on just about any surface -- though an optical mousepad is recommended.

However, one word of caution is that if you are using a hard surface with texture, the pads(underneath the mouse) will wear out and eventually you will have to replace the pads or the mouse -- but I'm guessing by the time they wear out, might as well get a new mouse :)

Digital camera Review: Excellent Mouse!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned (and abused) a variation of this mouse for 7 years now and couldn't be happier with the way that it has held up. Shows a little wear on the most abrasive contact points but otherwise looks brand new. The "Microsoft" lettering doesn't even show wear.

For some background, I'm a web developer and CAD drafter, so I spend upwards of 80 hrs a week on the computer. This thing has seen it's share of use.

Sadly, I've finally moved on to a trackball on the desktop and have retired this mouse to laptop duty, but I can safely say that this is one great piece of hardware. Highly recommended, for what it is.
