Digital camera reviews of Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse Blue

Digital camera Review: It worked great ...for 6 weeks (m)
Summary: 2 Stars

I got this mouse as a Christmas gift. I installed it with no problem (despite the fact that the enclosed software didn't work on my PC) and it worked great. I loved the fact that it was optical because I no longer needed a mouse pad and there was no ball to get covered in cat fur. I also loved not having a cord under my desk to get tangled up in and I was considering getting a wireless keyboard to go with it. 6 weeks to the day after I installed it, it quit working. I tried rebooting, replacing the batteries, changing the channel, reconnecting with the receiver and the best I could get was jerky movements that were hard to control and the left button didn't work. I'm hoping I can return it for store credit and then try the Logitech.

Digital camera Review: It's still a mouse...
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this mouse as a replacement for my MS Optical Mouse (which broke). The price seemed reasonable enough, and I'd never had a wireless mouse before so I decided to give this one a try. Software installation from the CD was quick and simple (Windows 2000 Pro) though I had to reboot 'for changes to take effect'. The mouse was recognized once plugged in and it's works just fine.

The lack of cord isn't as noticable as I had hoped it would be. I almost opted for the 'wired' Intellimouse with the side buttons instead (5 buttons in total) - I still think they would be handier than having a wireless mouse (thankfully they didn't make it shaped like a TV remote;)) The Intellimouse software on the CD (you can get it from MS's site as well) is great, I've been using it since I bought my last MS mouse about a year ago.

Battery life seems to be ok - I've had the mouse about a week now and it hasn't died on me yet.

Sometimes the cursor gets a little jumpy, overall it's just like every other mouse I've owned. I wouldn't recommend if you're big into gaming (because it's jumpy), but like I said in the title, it's still just a mouse, and it works fine.

Digital camera Review: Jumping around
Summary: 1 Stars

The mouse is not working after 1 month of ownership. Open it up, found that it uses quad-coil IF method for the the wireless receiver, which is susceptible to shock or vibration. Don't buy it.

Digital camera Review: Just awful
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't know what is wrong. This mouse is jittery and difficult to control. Back it went.

Digital camera Review: Less than ideal
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought the mouse almost a year ago because it was stylish and a good value for a wireless optical. However, I would say that it is somewhat frustrating to own the mouse. It worked great for the first few weeks. My first clue that it was less than ideal was that it ran out of battery and began to act erratically after just 5 weeks on fresh brand name batteries. I became accustomed to this so that every month or so, I would know to change batteries when the pointer began to become jumpy or lag, making web surfing very annoying. Then, even with fresh batteries, the mouse pointer began to skip and lag. After a frustrating trial with Microsoft and searching the web, I realized that you have to periodically reset the channels by clicking on the buttons on the mouse and the remote receiver. Also, using the USB connection makes a big difference.

It's just frustrating to have this mouse act erratically on such a frequent basis. For gamers, this mouse would be a disaster. For web surfers and office users, the mouse is occasionally irritating.

With foreknowledge a year ago, I would not have purchased this product.
