I am very happy with the product. I found it very easy to setup, and it has already provided several severe weather alerts. You can select just your local area or add several other areas(counties) to track warnings for. The midland woke us up out of a dead sleep to a tornando warning. The monitor was loud enough for even my husband who is hard of hearing, i was surprized since there was no tornando warnings when we went to bed. this is diffently a life safer for anyone. And this tornando hit during the night and where we live out in the county there are no sierns so thank goodness for the midland weather and alert monitor or we would never have know the tornando was coming so we could seek shelter.

I was completely disappointed with this radio. I live in the city where our local NOAA transmitter is located and this radio was almost unable to pick up the station. It produced horrible static and the signal would occasionally fade out completely. The reception was so poor as to be totally useless for SAME reception. I know that the problem is not due to our location as I have two other radios with weather band reception (without SAME) that work fine, and I have since purchased another weather alert radio by Oregon Scientific that picks up the station without any trouble.
I assume the unit that I purchased was defective, as I cannot believe anyone would positively review a radio that worked this poorly. I wish you the best of luck should you decide to purchase one.

The Midland WR-100B is tunable to warnings and/or alert for a single county. So far we have received only one alert for severe thunderstorms. After nearby loss of life from a tornado we feel that at least we will receive some warning of devastating weather. It is very east to program.
