This little radio is great and loud!!!!! I am not worried about missing an emergency annoucement now. In fact there is a winter storm warning now. I look forward to feeling safe and knowing in advance when to take shelter. Great product Midland and great delivery Amazon!!!!!!!2/28/2007
This is an updated rating. I thought my nice new radio didn't work as we had a snow storm and no alerts. I called Midland and they said to check with the NWS to see if alerts had been issued. I called the NWS and to my surprise no alerts had been issued. I thought something was wrong with my radio but there was nothing wrong with it. I highly recommend this product. I love it!!!!! Great price and snazzy looking gadget. This is my favorite new gadget. I am waiting for a weather alert. I know that may sound sick but I want to hear how loud the warning is LOL!!!

This unit sets up in about 10 minutes, has excellent reception, and works exactly as advertised. The good thing is, you can put it in your bedroom and be assured of getting woken up in time to get to shelter during tornado alerts and warnings (serious stuff here in the midwest). The bad thing is, you get the same shrieking alert for severe thunderstorm warnings, something I'd just as soon sleep through. It's worth the hassle to keep your family safe, but just be aware that while you can select what SAME areas you're getting alerts for, you can't select which types of alerts you'll get.Digital camera Review: Alert

This is a live saving device!!! Make sure you put it in the right spot in your home or it wont receive warning or test messeges. The best way to know if its going to receive a warning or a test signal is click the weather button and see if you can hear the weather man clearly.
