Digital camera reviews of Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Black, Kindle Version)Digital camera Review: A little bulky, but still a must have for Kindle users. Summary: 4 Stars
The base of the light is a little bulky and it does slide a bit when clipped in place, but I like the light output and the ability to adjust the amount of light. The absence of back lighting on the Kindle makes it easy to read for hours on end, but an outside light source is necessary. This light makes for a perfect travel companion to Kindle users. It works great for hard cover books too!
Digital camera Review: A little dim and not for the kindle Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this item for my wife's Kindle DX and I have to say that I'm a little disappointed. First, I am disappointed by the description of it being the "Kindle Version". There is nothing about this that is specifically for the Kindle (the box doesn't even contain the word "Kindle"). As as a reading light for the Kindle it doesn't work very well. The Clip that hangs onto the Kindle is the same kind of smooth plastic as the Kindle itself, so it starts sliding off and rotating while your trying to read, forcing you to constantly adjust the thing. I don't know if some ruber pads on the inside of the clip might help, but something needs to be done with the design to make it stay in place.
And the clip is too large for the Kindle. If you try to clip it in the center the clip is long enough that it reachs down and over the top of the screen. If you try to clip it to the side of the Kindle the clip is wide enough that it reached over the side of the screen. Putting it in the center makes it more stable, but I'm worried about it damaging the screen.
As a reading light, it also isn't very bright. I have a reading light I bought a few years ago that is at least twice as bright. Since the Kindle has that grey background you need more light than an actual book does in order to read, so it fails on this front as well.
If you were buying this for use with regular books, it might be servicable, but certainly not for the Kindle. They make it seem like this reading light is something special for the Kindle, but it's not. I would just take your Kindle to the bookstore and fine a reading light that you think will work.
Digital camera Review: A little light that packs a BIG wallop! Summary: 5 Stars
The Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 clip-on light is a great accessory for your Kindle 2nd Generation. The light's neck is long enough and flexible enough to allow you to place and aim the light from numerous locations without casting any glare on your screen. Its on/off button is located right on the back of the light's head, making it an easy find even in the dark. And best of all, the light radiates out in an eye-friendly wash rather aiming a sharply focused and less useful light source directly at the page. I use it clipped on the front half of my Kindle's leather cover and it works beautifully. The clip is big and easy to use and tenacious enough not to get jostled off no matter how hard I've tried.
Digital camera Review: A little too big Summary: 4 Stars
It doesn't fint on the Kindle very well..it needs a smaller or different clip. It covers the screen a little
Digital camera Review: A mighty bright light Summary: 5 Stars
This light is perfect with the Kindle prodigy cover from M-edge. It fits easily on the left edge of the cover and gives a uniform light over the entire surface of the page. When I'm reading, I fold the front cover under and clip the light sideways on the edge to help hold the front cover in place.
