Unless you could not understand the users manual that came with your tv, this dvd is a complete waste of time, almost an insult to your intelligence. If you want to look at smiling guys and giggling girls while you try to adjust simple tasks like brightness, color, and contrast (which are the only "secrets" they walk you through)this dvd is for you. Forget the music video and Jenna Drey whoever she is. I expected some insights and usefull test patterns. If there really are ISF standards, I would be ashamed to have my orginazation associated with this farce.Digital camera Review: Keep It Simple Stupid!

I have used just about all the calibration discs on the market and this makes it very simmple to calibrate your tv. Don't bother reading those other reviews, trust me this is the one you want if you dont want to spend hours setting up your tv. 10minutes and your good to go. Test patterns and color bars are useless unless you now what your doing, or you have expensive calibration tools. The most important thing in a good picture is brightness and contrast, your looking to get the most detail out of your picture without washing it out. For quick and simple picture calibration, this is exactly what it claims to be. I hope an actual ISF professional would be a bit more involved than this. It marginally improved my DVD settings, except my problem wasn't with my DVD picture, it was more my satellite I was trying to fix. But now that I give it some thought, I guess all calibration DVDs are by definition only designed to work with DVD settings. For years your television was calibrated by some folks at Sony whose principal concern was that people look vaguely like people and the sky looks blue and not purple. As long as video arrived at the set with 480 lines of living color, this suited everyone.
Welcome to the digital age. Our "video receivers" are designed for high definition and we have become accused to watching droplets of sweat fly off the face of NFL running backs as they twist away from linebackers. With 1080p and Blu-ray and the right receiver it is not unusual to see a movie in a format even more spectacular than in a theater.
All of this has combined to create a demand for a new product-the calibration DVD. Monster who seeks to sell more gold-tipped HDMI cables figured out people would only buy them if the cables delivered the truly amazing video experience. But when people adjust brightness, contrast, sharpness and the like, do they really know what they are doing? Monster figures they don't and by and large they are right.
If you have an electronics engineering degree from MIT, you probably will not need this DVD. For the rest of us, the "simple minded" as one reviewer called us, it is a nice tool. The interface is designed to speak to the technologically challenged who can be assumed to be the lowest common denominator. I, for one, know how to find the brightness menu, while the DVD assumes I do not. Big deal. People speak down to me all the time, figuring that because of my profession I am incapable of understanding car mechanics or dentistry. (As to one of those I am). If you follow the instructions and it is hard not to if you have completed third grade, you will have a near perfect picture on your $2000 HD video reciever-and that is why you bought it in the first place.

I used he wizard to calibrate my TV and it works GREAT. The stepps are thorough and easy to follow. It will help you to set up the TV to your own personal standards.
Trust me - I rarely give an A+ to anything, but this gets as close to A+ as possible.
