Summary: 2 Stars
While most people have an immediate negative reaction to anything with the Monster name on it, I had been pleasantly surprised by their headphone line-up. The Turbine Pro series are simply some of the best earphones I have ever heard. On the other while they are definitely aimed at style and flash, the Beats by Dre Tour and Solo are my goto headphones and earphones for listening to any R&B or hip hop music. They are also in a constant rotation with my Grados for commuting back and forth to work, etc. Given my positive past experiences I was pretty pumped to see what the Jamz had to offer.
Unfortunately, I have come away disappointed and returned them to the store.
Overall, there are just better choices in this price range. Bass fans need not read any further. You just won't be happy with these guys. Do yourself a favor and take a look at the offerings from Ultimate Ears and Klipsch before putting down any cash toward these. If you are a Monster fan and can afford to fork over some extra cash, it would certainly be worth it to grab the Beats by Dre Tour instead.
As for the rest of the sound, while the Mids were good the highs left a lot to be desired. The overall detail in the sound just isn't there and for $100 bucks you can certainly find other products that can provide that.
From a comfort standpoint, while I had no trouble keeping them in my ears even during a workout, these things are a bit on the heavy side. On one hand, it does give you the feeling that they are built solid. On the other hand, after only 4 days of use I could hear what I can only describe as static in the left earphone. Not overwhelming, but definitely noticeable. That sealed deal and back to the store these guys went.
Like all headphones, opinions can vary pretty wildly. While these weren't the worst product I have ever heard, they just don't measure up to some of the other earbuds in this price range.
