Its all about bandwidth people. Yes, the signal is digital, sending binary code. However, the AMOUNT of code that the wire is capable of sending is the issue. For HDTV or an Xbox 360, any cheap old wire can handle the signal. However, for Blu-Ray players and the Playstation 3, there is substantially more (3x cable, 2x Xbox) bandwidth, and cheaper cables can't handle it. Some reviews have mentioned sound loss. Well thats because the cheap wire being used cant handle the HD audio transmitted. The same goes for the precise video signals. Data will be lost if the wire cant handle the bandwidth output from the transmitting device. Its really not rocket science.Digital camera Review: Best Hdmi for the $$$

HDMI cables transfer digital data, basically a stream of 1s and 0s. If your cable delivers, say, only the 1s or only the 0s, you won't get a degraded signal - you'll get no signal at all. This means that there are only two quality thresholds for an HDMI cable - either it works or it doesn't. No amount of vacuum sealing, gold plating, or other gimmickry will make the 1s coming out of Monster's HDMI cables more 1y or the 0s more 0y than the HDMI cables you can buy for 5$ elsewhere on Amazon.
Don't be fooled. If you want a better picture, buy the 5$ cables and use the money you save to buy a better TV.

How is this company still in business? These cables are overpriced by 20000%! With digital signals, it's all or nothing. You cannot get lower quality video/audio if the cable isn't good enough like you do with analog signals. With digital signals, if the quality isn't good you just won't get a signal. This is a fantastic cable at a great price! I had another cable from a different manufacturer thinking "a cable is a cable". I upgraded to the Ultra-High by Monster and what a difference! I showed a friend the difference with a "stare and compare" by plugging and unplugging the old and the new. I will only buy the Monster from here on out.
