Motorola Surfboard SB5101 Cable Modem works perfectly with no operational problems. Extremely easy to connect for non-technical person. Easily replaced the Comcast unit. Took old one out, matching wiring from old to new. Called Comcast to activate per instructions and "off to the races". We have had this modem as part of our home Wireless network for about 3 years. We haven't had a single problem with it in all that time and it has worked perfectly. This was NOT the modem given to us by our high speed cable internet provider (Charter Communications) I had to buy it myself, but I wanted a BETTER modem than the one you had to "RENT" from Charter @ $5 a month and if I had have opted to pay to rent it, I would have been able to buy this modem 3 times over now.
HOWEVER what does concern me somewhat is WHY hasn't Motorola come out with a more ADVANCED modem in the past 3 plus years, considering the advent of all the new technologies with Computers, Routers and the Ultra high speeds offered by DSL and Cable Internet now days. I HOPE soon that Motorola will come out with an updated new model in the USA that is a more sophisticated modem which would help everyone who buy's one get a faster connection by using the newer modem. They do have a more advanced modem, the SB6120,
IF you want a solid good modem then the SB5101 listed HERE is a good BASIC no frills modem, but if I were going to be buying a NEW modem I would want one that is more advanced and up to date with the times. But maybe there isn't a better modem which will increase your speed, but I find that hard to believe.

I ordered it on 07/23 & received it on 07/28. I paid $39.02 shipped. Installation was a breeze. It took me one phone call to Comcast customer support to activate the modem.
