I bought this item at a Brookstone store - I had to get it in blue of course. I had no problem with it. The instructions were easy to follow. I am not a computer expert by any means but I found it easy to load the photos. My computer is 4 years old and worked just fine with this.
I used some photos from my computer and others from CDs ( I just put the CDs in my computer). I don't understand the customer who had a problem with their memory cards being eaten - you don't put the memory card in this device. It works very similar to an Ipod - you do the work on your computer which then updates the device.
The photos can be viewed very clearly.
It may not hold a full 4000 pictures, but who would want to look at that many. This is great to show off your vacation photos etc..
