Digital camera Review: Great bang for the buck.

I bought this desktop switch for the sole purpose of splitting my ethernet connection between my Vista PC and my XBox 360. It was very easy to install, I simply plugged the power into the back and connected the three cables into the front and it took care of all the rest itself.
This product is a great bargain currently and the $15 rebate arrived promptly in the form of a pre-paid Visa card. It also works well with existing routers in your house, so if you simply want to split cables to say two to four devices on a different story of your house, you can stick with one long cable. Obviously, wireless is better if available, but this is a solid secondary option (especially to buying the 360 wireless router)
The only thing you'll need is ethernet cables if you don't already have them. They are available in different sizes and if you need to measure them, buy some kite string, run it to your distination and cut it and measure to decide between say 75-100 feet or whatever (just don't cut it close... if it's 74, go with 100). Belkin is a great brand for your cable needs.

The FS100 series Fast Ethernet switches bring the 100 Mbps switching technology in a compact form factor to the small office marketplace at an aggressive price. These switches segment networks for improved performance, enabling the most demanding multimedia and imaging applications. Since each port is auto-speed-sensing, individual hubs or directly attached servers can easily be upgraded from 10 to 100 Mbps. Each port can automatically negotiate the network speed and duplex mode with the remote end, taking the burden of configuration off the user. At the higher speed running in full duplex mode, each port supports up to 200 Mbps of information throughput.

NETGEAR's FS100 series desktop switches are housed in a compact sturdy metal case designed without the need for internal fans, keeping operation both silent and more reliable. It can be placed on a flat surface or you can use the included wall mount kit.
Simple Setup and Stellar Performance
Plug in your Ethernet cables and connect a power cord, and you're ready to go. There is no software to install or settings to configure. The switch features auto negotiation, which automatically obtains the fastest possible connection, and Auto Uplink takes care of the MDI/MDI-X connection. There are no toggle switches or special crossover cables. If your network has existing 10BASE-T devices, they will work seamlessly within a higher bandwidth environment with each port achieving its full speed.
Every port supports up to 200 Mbps in dedicated bandwidth. Automatic flow control ensures smooth traffic. The FS105 has 64 KB of buffer memory and an address database size of 1,000. The switch has status LEDs for power, and link, speed, and activity for each port.
The NETGEAR FS105 ProSafe 5-Port 10/100 Desktop Switch has a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 390,000 hours and is backed by a lifetime warranty. The power adapter is backed by a 2-year warranty.
