Purchasing this piece of equipment was the best investment I've made in my efforts to expand the capability of my home LAN! I was hesitant at first because I have a Linksys Wireless N Router and did not want to mix-match my LAN equipment. But this network switch works very well with my network; it's sleek, low-profile appearance makes it a great option to connect all my home theater equipment that requires on-line access (i.e., BD-Live, Sat Receiver, DVD/VHS recorder, and my HDTV, etc.) without creating an ugly mess of cables. I purchased this product about a year ago. Today it failed with the well documented "Blinking Lights of Death". (I only wished I had read the reviews on a different site before buying). I called Netgear and it took me about an hour to get them to honor the warranty. (They tried to tell me it was under a 90 day warranty, when the box clearly states 5 years). I will get a new (rebuilt i'm sure) one in the mail in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile I'm buying a new HP switch. I will use the Netgear as a backup.Digital camera Review: I forgot it's there

2 minutes to connect it to my setup, and it was all done.
Works flawlessly and also helped overcome the router limited number of external Ethernet connectors.
My internal network works a lot faster!
I almost forgot it's there :-)

I have been using a Netgear 24-port Gigabit switch ( Netgear JGS524NA ProSafe 24-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch ) for about two years, and added this one in June 2008. Never had any problems, and as others have pointed out, pretty much plug-n-play; with auto uplink and small but readable lights, these are hassle free unmanaged switches. Our network consists of Macs, Linux, Windoze, and NAS boxes -- all seem to play well. I am also a big fan of the metal enclosures as they add a degree of sturdiness that plastic units can't muster. I have used these for portable temporary net expansion and the metal has made a difference in certain mishaps between having a switch and throwing away a broken switch.Digital camera Review: It Works fine
