Digital camera reviews of NETGEAR N600 Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router WNDR3700Digital camera Review: A mixed bag Summary: 3 Stars
The basic wireless (A/G/N) seems to work well, though the A/N range is disappointing. The guest network also worked nicely (on 2.4G band, didn't try 5G). The install CD won't work from a static IP, like the server I use to manage the network, so that was annoying but not a show-stopper.
The USB storage connection was the big problem: the router's services were hanging up every 15 minutes or so, requiring a power cycle. I isolated it to the USB storage, a bug that was supposedly fixed in the latest firmware but was apparently not fixed. I disabled the media server option, per the workaround for the original problem, and things are working now. Tech support said that the problem was (a) my USB drive was not on the rather small approved list and (b) the external power supply of a USB drive conflicts with the power on the router's USB port... that's an interesting spin... especially since disabling media server seems to have resolved the problem.
So, given the high price of this router, I'd say "average". If I have any further issues, back it goes.
Digital camera Review: A very good High End Dual Band Router! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, i just bought a new laptop (HP Dm4t) and had wireless internet before. Through extensive research on the web i finally found this powerful router. This is the most feature rich router ive seen in a while, a little pricey but its worth it in the end due to the longevity of its life span and its ease of use and speed consistency over several devices connected at once.
The WNDR3700 lives up to its name! it increased my range throughout my whole house 2500 sq feet, and theirs no speed difference whether im upstairs or downstairs. Its fast, easy to install, reliable and one of the best 150 dollars i spent on a networking device. A plus to this already great device is the 5ghz wireless a connection which is less congested and sometimes gives a faster speed than the over crowded 2.4 ghz But make sure your wireless internet adapter/card supports it! it should say wireless a when you look at your wireless card through device manager. If it does not than you have no use for the dual band capabilities in this router but nevertheless, its 2.4 ghz gave me a promised 180 mbps wireless and 300 wired. But considering that i have a ps3, an xbox 360 an ipod touch and a laptop connected at once this router still maintains its speed.
Th only bad thing i found was the limited capabilities with the guest network but that was fixed with a firmware upgrade. I also suggest that you keep the router elevated on a shelf (downstairs if two story) and keep it standing rather than laying it flat due to heat issues and better range. I also should say the first thing you should do is update the routers firmware from one of the icons the install wizard makes for you.
All in all this is by far the best router i have used and its speed is fast, range is excellent and is perfect for connecting more than 1 device. The dual band is a plus, it will help if you live in crowded areas but you might notice a speed decrease or increase using 5 ghz and a range decrease. This is one of the best items i bought off of amazon and i highly recommend it for a people who aren't familiar with networking due the the ease of installation. A great buy indeed.
Digital camera Review: A very reliable Router with a complete feature set Summary: 5 Stars
After using this router for several months, I find it is far more stable and reliable than the Belkin F5D8235 which it replaced. I like the ability to separate the "G" and the "N" protocols with different log-in's which enables each device to run at their maximum speed. The range on the "N" is greatly improved and more importantly it is very stable. No more daily router resets needed. It also allows for a guest log in, was quite easy to set up it's basic features and has many (very bright) status lights to keep the user informed. The "Readyshare" feature works but as might be expected is slower than a conventional external hard drive.
Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. It has been just what I was looking for from a router...set it and forget it stability.
Digital camera Review: AWESOME ROUTER! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this router as a replacement/upgrade from my previous router which was a D-Link DIR-615. The difference between the two is like night and day. I was constantly losing the signal with the D-Link. I run my iPod Touch and Wii gaming systems off of it. This Netgear router was super easy to set up and it hasn't dropped the signal once since installing it. It's been about a month now. My iPod and Wii are immediately connected when I activate those features. It was set up and forget with this router. It will be nothing but Netgear for me from now on!
Digital camera Review: AWESOME ROUTER* Summary: 5 Stars
The prefect router in my opinion. Installed easy on my Mac. Connected and configured in about 15 mins. RANGE IS AMAZING. I get full bars sitting in my driveway and once got about three bars about half a block away from my house. RELIABLE! I would have to reset my old router about once or twice a day. Since getting this router about a month ago I haven't had to touch it once! Dual band, simultaneous reception is flawless also. My Roku box picks it up instantly and I get full HD content without any hiccups.
We have watched full HD movies on the Roku while both my wife and I are browsing the net on our iPhone's while at the same time one kid is on the laptop and the other is on my primary (wired) computer. NO LAG, worked beautifully. I recommend this router to anyone.
NOTE: This router is incapable of WAKE-ON-LAN over the internet. These routers do not accept magic packets.
