Digital camera reviews of NETGEAR WN121T RangeMax Next Wireless-N USB 2.0 AdapterDigital camera Review: Beaware Summary: 1 Stars
This is not a 5GHz adaptor. So it will not give you true N performance.
Digital camera Review: Better than expected but one or two issues Summary: 4 Stars
I read the reviews here first and was a little apprehensive about whether the Netgear Rangemax was going to work or not, but so far so good.
The installation was striaght foward and only complicated by Windows Vista (ugh!) and the device works, picking up our Netgear wireless hub at 98% (it's in the room below). The pop-up window to tell me it's connected to the internet when I start my machine (unless I immediately open IE) is a little bit of a pain, but other than that it works fine and speeds are what I expected.
The only issue I have had with it is that if I set my machine on Sleep mode the Rangemax seems to disconnect so that when I wake the machine it has issues. The quickest way to get reconnected seems to be restarting the machine (but since it saves power to shut down rather than sleep the PC, no big deal).

I bought this adapter for my HP IQ770. It already had a built in wireless connection but it was not the 802.11n draft that is the fastest right now. My router is the Netgear 802.11n draft WNR834B so I wanted my computer to match.
I hooked it up to the computer and...NOTHING! I was so upset! It only interfered with the computers original settings. So I un-installed and thought maybe to resell on Amazon or eBay. My new laptop already has the 802.11n draft built in so I didn't need it for that.
I figured I would try it on my "antique" Dell laptop that does not even have a wireless connection. Previously I had installed a wireless card and I would be lucky if I turned the laptop this way or that way, I could get at least a couple bars. So that was why I bought my new one. My teenage son now has my old one and he never used it because the connection was so bad. I thought what's it going to hurt to hook it up on that and run it with that laptop?!
So after a quick 5 minute set-up, not only was I picking up my network connection (anywhere in the house) with ALL BARS but I was also picking up my neighbors connection across the street! (perfect example why it is SO IMPORTANT to lock your network with password protection...I plan on telling her that she needs to change her set-up!)
So to make a long review short! This is the greatest adapter for any computer that DOES NOT have a built in wireless connection already. Not one review said that "this works best with no integrated wireless connections on your computer already" so now I am telling everyone that! Or maybe if you disabled your original connection it might work, I didn't want to do that just in case I wasn't happy with the adapter and I would have to reset things on my desktop. It's great for laptops though! So now when the snow finally melts, my son can go outside with his new antique laptop!
My suggestion on this though...run it with an N-draft router, you will get the best performance out of it! This adapter is only going to be as fast as your router...if you have any of the older 802.11 a/b/g routers, you are not going to be satisfied! Netgears current N-draft routers are WNR834B which is up to 270Mpbs (my review is based on that one) Or you can go with the WNR854T which offers up to 300Mpbs but there's also an average of $50 more added on too! For a $50 price break, you are NEVER going to notice a 30Mpbs difference!
Digital camera Review: DO NOT PURCHASE! Summary: 1 Stars
This USB adapter will cause your sound card to stutter in a horrible manner. Many users on the netgear forum are reporting this issue and NETGEAR is not fixing this problem.
This is not a problem with XP/Vista IRQ conflicts (I went through the process of verifying this myself, which requires me to re-install XP to get my hyper threading support back). This is 100% a NETGEAR issue.
Digital camera Review: Easy set up and great speed. Summary: 5 Stars
What a difference from my old 802.11b network. This adaptor installed and found my wireless network in a matter of minutes. My wireless internet connection is now indistinguisible from my wired connection. Both run at about 6mbps now on Speakesy Speedtest. I was originally wary of buying the USB adaptor instead of the PCI connection, but I was told that the USB interface is so fast it would not make a noticable difference, and now I believe it. For ease of set up and speed I give this product two thumbs way up. (Using on a Windows XP system with Netgear WNR834B draft-N router).
