The MC-36 has some nifty features that are an improvement over your basic $10 cable release, such as a "bulb" setting and an intervalometer, but they're not all that useful for most photographers. And while we're at it, for this amount of money an on/off switch and an extra metre of cable would have been nice. But it is well-built and it works.Digital camera Review: Good to get a steady shot.

The remote shutter controller give me nice steady shot. It also equipped with an interval timer for timed photography. Good to have.

I have not used the MC-36 very much yet, but what a great attachment for long exposure and time lapse photography. I mostly use it for long exposure over 30 seconds and while the exposure is activated I need my hands free. This attachment allows this. I know my camera (Nikon D200) has features to allow intraval shots and setting long exposure, but it is limited in the time of exposures and this device allows me to do this type of photography.
I have read in forums of disappointment in the size of the MC-36 and that there is no on-off switch, but this does not bother me. If you may be concerned about it's size (6" L x 1 1/2" W x 1/2" T) try and find one in a camera store. If you are concerned about battery use in a rest mode, take them out.

I bought this for my D200 last month and has already become a must carry item with the camera. Time lapse/multiple exposure feature has been very helpful for taking group pictures where I need to be in the frame as well. I program multiple exposures 1 second apart and typically few frames turn out great where everyone is relaxed and looking at the camera!.
It is easy to program and easy to operate but a longer cord could be better.
