We are very pleased with our product. We are now able to keep everything in order and it is logged into our memory bank and we do not have to worry about losing receipts and other important data. We have freed up time in many areas and that gives us more time for ourselves knowing that the paper work is not going to pile up. I would recommend the product to anyone. I've owned this little mobile scanner and the related software for about two years now -- initially saw it advertised in an in-flight magazine and bought it from Amazon. While there are numerous mobile scanners available in the market, it's certainly the software that sets this one apart.
I'd go so far as to say that this little gadget now ranks on the indispensability scale right up there with TiVo, iPod and HDTV.
First, I DO NOT use it with a laptop, but have it mounted with my desktop -- it sits perfectly on TOP of my thin flat-screen Dell monitor, and the USB plugs into the back of the monitor (I DID purchase separately a left-hand USB cord for a more streamlined fit).
I scan just about everything now -- and rarely use my downstairs All-In-One scanner because this little gem pretty much does it all (except, of course, hi res photo scanning, etc.)
The software is robust and friendly, and the folks at Neat have continued to improve an already nice app. On those few occasions that I have had issues, I must say that their Customer Support is PERHAPS THE VERY BEST I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. They are very capable techs located in the Philadelphia area, and it is always a pleasure to work with them. Truly, they know their product backwards and forwards.
I actually don't use the scanner/software for receipts as much as I do for other docs that I want to archive -- medical records, invoices, service records, etc. Of course, the mobile scanner does not have an automatic document feeder (even though you can scan multi-pages manually), but I now see that they are introducing a new ADF type scanner.
I'd say I use this scanner every couple days, and I would immediately purchase another if this one went belly up.
A great product and a great company. Highly recommended.

If you are a business traveler and like to be organized, the NeatReceipts Professional Mobile Receipt and Document Scanner is a must for you. It easily fits into a briefcase or backpack and is ready to use instantly after plugging into a USB Port on any laptop. I am now able to spend more time with my kids when I get home because all of my receipts are scanned every night I'm away. Since the power source comes from my laptop, I can even scan receipts on the plane when I'm traveling home. The software is a breeze to install and also allows you to scan in a PDF format. As a long time user (since 2005), Neat Receipts is invaluable to our small business. Every receipt or document (personal or business) is scanned and stored. I cannot tell you how much this has helped reduce the clutter and paper throughout the house! And finding a receipt to return something to Home Depot or provide to the IRS is quick and easy. We use the export features to Excel, PDF and QuickBooks almost daily and they are just to a name a few of the wonderful features this product has. Without a doubt, Neat Receipts is the BEST tool we have invested in to keep our business up and running smoothly.
Digital camera Review: Absolute HORRIBLE waste of time (and money)

I've been told for months that NeatReceipts update ($20 cost to existing customers for version 3.0) would have better exporting to Quicken. Specifically I'm disappointed that MEMO data (you know - that line that has been on checks for 100 years now) does not get included in exported data. After finding that was not true, I called again and was told that the newest version 4.0 (another $30 --am I an idiot or what--) would definitely include complete data export that I need (helpful for IRS audits--the last 3 years now--God help me). 4.0 ALSO DOES NOT do what they claim. Unfortunately I really need that MEMO info, which is why I bother to put it in the field.
NR designers are not aware that people might want to use the most basic of information and they are the ones who decide what information will be exported for Quicken. Oh, and they not only promise to include basic changes in future updates (and charge for them)--and then fail to do so-- they are HORRIBLE at even putting out updates.
PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER! I've spent $200 on the scanner/software and $50 more on updates... and the thing is costing me time!
AWFUL online support. LiveChat support is very uninformed and not helpful and phone support times are limited to usual work hours (you know, when I am WORKING).
There is just nothing useful, helpful or convenient about this. Too bad because the general idea is great and the technology is out there (somewhere - not in NeatReceipts, however). Sorry to disappoint!
