I've had this phone for 2 years and it has withstood being dropped and other mishandling without problems. You don't get a monthly bill. Rather you just buy a prepaid card for 30 or 60 bucks which gives you 300 or 600 minutes of calling time and 60 or 120 service days (you can also buy minutes using the phone itself). Text messages are a nickel each. The good news is that unused minutes roll over. Also, if your phone gets stolen, someone can't use it to make thousands of dollars in long distance calls which you get billed for. They can only use the time remaining. With Sprint I was paying $500 a year. With Net 10 it's $180 a year. If you spend a lot of time on the phone, this isn't the product for you. Otherwise it's a great deal and also a relief not to get phone bills anymore.
