Digital camera reviews of Next Generation Remote Control Extender

Digital camera Review: Alien Technology at its best !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Up until now I was somewhat skeptical about the whole Area-51 thing and Alien Technology. I'm a skeptic no more! Aliens make great remote extenders, much better than my old terrestrial designed "Leapfrog" from Terk Technologies. No bulky receiver in the room, and much better range. I do however think that they need to drop that whole flying saucer motif, it's getting kind of tired.

In all seriousness ,the extender worked right out of the box, and had the range I was looking for, 2nd floor bedroom to a receiver located in the basement. I was quite curious about how this thing worked since it doesn't have line of sight to the remote controls IR emitter...for those interested , here's the link to the Patent..

Very clever .

Digital camera Review: Almost perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

It works as advertised with my basic DirecTV receiver & remote. It is overly sensitive to key bounce, which is what keeps me from giving it 5 stars. Range from corners of my house is a little tough, but it is a good sized house and an RF awkward "L" shaped. Works good enough to call it a keeper, particularly given how easy it is to setup.

Compared to the other RF to IR clickers I have used this is in another league. It immediately chameleons whatever device the little transmitter/battery tube is inserted into. All buttons on the clicker work immediately through walls. Range is good, and battery life is good. Only one downside, which is the tiny transmitter module wears out rather more quickly than one would expect out of a product in a medium price range. Had to replace the transmitter in about a year. There are replacement modules available separately, but have not reviewed well. Instead, I just got another whole unit and received the extra batteriies and other parts. Overall, there is still nothing around this good for the price.

Digital camera Review: Although I did not expect this thing to work, it is fantastic
Summary: 5 Stars

In short, it works so good you can completely forget you are signaling over RF.

This simple, elegant, hiqh-quality solution turns any remote into an RF remote. I use it to RF control my Tivo HD DVR and my Pioneer A/V receiver/amp. I replaced one of the 4 AA batteries in my Tivo remote with the special RF battery and tada! I've used it for many weeks on a single battery charge. I do not detect any delay introduced by the RF! It's that good.

I've used it with and without the extender emitter cable--both work flawless. If you have a situation that allows you to place the puck a few feet in front of your equipment, that's all you need. If, like most I imagine, you want to hide the puck and need to use the extender emitter cable, the included emitter cable only has one node--stupid. Most people will want at least 2 and probably 3 or more emitters. So do yourself a favor and pick up 3 eye cable when you order this.

The only other RF remote control solution I tried was the $400 Logitech touchscreen remote with RF extender. The Logitech solution sucks, and if you want one, I'll sell you the whole mess for $100 because it's sitting in a drawer collecting dust.

Digital camera Review: Amazed!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was hesitant on ordering this... I have a pioneer receiver in my basement controlling the outdoor speakers, bought this put the rechargeable battery in my remote (it holds 2 AA so now one is the special battery this comes with and the other is a normal AA battery) and it works EXACTLY like I'm facing the unit...

I cannot understand how this could work but at around 100 foot away, threw my basement walls, (and the dirt around the basement) it works perfectly, fast and accurate even while I was trying to hide the remote so i would not work.... it works so good I was laughing.... its really amazing... now I can control my radio from my pool side...
