Digital camera Review: Nike+ Problems - Hardware or Software?
Summary: 1 Stars

The Nike+ concept represents a great idea for walkers and runners and others who exercise to musical rhythms and want the cool features of Nike+, but what a shame the product and/or its companion software is a bit failure prone! I'm on my 3rd sensor and hoping this one performs much better than the first two.
The first sensor was dead on arrival, the second died after two walks, and the third did not work until I power-cycled my iPod Touch (4th gen). There are two functional units to the Nike+ system: The sensor/transmitter and the receiver/processing software. It occurred to me that maybe the problem might be in the receiver/processing side. So when my iPod did not pick up the sensor/transmitter signal today, I power-cycled the iPod and the sensor was picked up promptly after I took a few steps! I was beginning to think the Nike+ sensors might be missing some QC at the factory across the Pacific, but now I am convinced the problem might just as well be in the receiver/processing software side! Not sure yet but working on isolating the problem so I know whether to take back #3.
Design wise the device has issues like these:
-- no positive feedback so you don't know what's going on,
-- no indicator function in the iPod side of Nike+ to let you know if the sensor has fallen off your shoe - no alarm or indication in the first 100 feet or so anyway,
-- no way to recharge or replace the battery,
-- no indication whether the sensor is in awake mode or sleep mode, etc.
But again, the concept is strong if only Nike can improve the design and make it work much longer!

Digital camera Review: Nike+ is a piece of Junk
Summary: 1 Stars

Nike+ worked well for about 6 months. Then it started having issues. The Ipod receiver couldn't find the sensor, or it would find the sensor and about 1 mile into the run, it would say, "Activity stopped, press center button to resume" even though I was already a mile or 2 into the run. It would sound like it was working and I would get home and there wouldn't be any information. I finally gave up and bought the Garmin Forerunner watch. Don't bother with the Nike+.

Nike+ does have a cool website and forums, but useless if the product is a piece of junk.

Digital camera Review: Not Pleased
Summary: 1 Stars

I have yet to be able to link this gadget with my 2G Ipod Touch. There is no way to tell if the unit is awake or asleep. I would rather spend a little more money and have a product that I can a) tell if it's on b) replace the battery on.

Better luck next time, Apple.

Digital camera Review: Not very good
Summary: 1 Stars

First off, there is no light to tell you when it is on or not on so the battery runs out fast. There is a button but you have to put it in your shoe, walk around to see if it's on....if not grab it out of your shoe hopefully think it is turned on then repeat.

Calibration is off...I ran, biked and drove the same route. Granted, I know it won't be exact but the bke and car were close in distance when the Nike sensor was off. I re-calibrated for a long distance on flat ground to assure accuracy but still was way off.

If you have the option for a gps I would use that...would be much more accurate.

Digital camera Review: Pretty neat little toy
Summary: 4 Stars

This little gadget works great with my iTouch, it synced up right away, and the software on my 2nd gen iTouch is a fun little toy. I really enjoy what you get when you are use the Nike+ system.

After each workout you can sync your devise and have it uploaded to the Nike+ website where it is tracked and recorded for you. You can also map out runs using google maps, and check out other routes that people have created and posted in your area. There are also challenges that you can participate in to keep you motivated. There is a ton more that goes along with this product that just buying a little sense for your shoe. If you are on the fence I say get it. I was and I am glad I bought it.
