Digital camera Review: First Lens For My First DSLR Nikon D300
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this lens as my walkabout lens for my first digital SLR, Nikon D300, last Dec2008. I have no regrets I got the 16-85mm as this is a wide-angle and a medium telephoto lens. The pictures that I made have very crisp colors and I love the VR feature that minimizes camera shake especially that I don't always take the tripod with me. I've been enjoying photography with my D300 with this lens.

Cheers!

Digital camera Review: GREAT LENS! Very chrisp images and bright colors on my D300
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this lens for my D300. From the very first image I could tell this is was an excellent purchase. The images are very sharp and the colors are vibrant. The extra 2mm make a big difference especially in the DX format. I shoot a wide variety of subjects and light levels. This lens performs well in low light, night shooting, action, landscapes and sports. I shoot mostly manually however when I use the auto features they perform very well. The autofocus is almost immediate and rarely fooled, even at very low light.
I have other lens however this has become the one that stay on the camera by far the most.
The only cons I have seen is there is a slight vignette effect at the 16mm setting. But I compensate for that in post processing, however I still wouldn't shy away from this lens because of that. I would not hesitate in recommending this lens to anyone especially for the price.

Digital camera Review: Going out of focus when zooming
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this since October 2010. Bought as a replacement for my 18-70mm kit lens on my D70. I since upgraded to a D300s, but managed to drop the D300s with the 18-70 a couple of times and the lens barrel shattered. The D300s suffered nary a dent. I have noticed that the new 16-85mm lens does not keep focus when zooming in or out after composing and getting the image in focus. I don't remember my old 18-70 needing to be re-focused after zooming. Anyone else having this problem? Or is this normal behavior for this lens?

Digital camera Review: Good walk around lens.
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for a backup/walk around lens and for the price, i exactly got what i wanted. I've got the extra reach when i need it, light to carry around, easy to use, built strong. The only thing that i can probably complain about is, the image is a little bit too soft, but for the price, that's all i can get. So overall, i'll keep it.

Digital camera Review: Great Alternative lens for the Nikon D90
Summary: 5 Stars

I read all the reviews for this and other lenses to be used with my Nikon D90. Regarding this lens, I must say, they were all good and all true. This lens makes excellent images with a great deal of clarity. Used with the features of the D90 it [...].

I'm not a technical writer or a pixel peeper, I like to take pictures to much to spend time doing those types of activities. Besides there are other people and web sites that have performed excellent reviews of this and other lenses. You can start at www.dpreview.com for starters and go from there or just "Google" for a lens review.

I haven't taken this lens off my camera yet. The VR is astounding as well as the images. This lens is a great match for the D90.
