Digital camera reviews of Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens

Digital camera Review: ??????
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't know anything about this product! I bought it for a friend. Now you have my e-mail address and you abuse it real bad. I hope I don't use Amazon again. My trash can is full of Amazon junk!

Digital camera Review: Excellent all around Lens
Summary: 5 Stars

I was using Nikon 18-135mm with D80 for a year. I realized that if you zoom beyond 70mm and handhold the camera there will be some softness in the picture. In that case you definitely need image stabilization. I upgraded to this lens even though this lens is expensive. I am glad I did it. I am very happy with this lens. No creeping so for.
If you have DX format camera, all you need is this 18-200VR and 50mm F1.8 prime lens.

Digital camera Review: WOW...What a lens!
Summary: 5 Stars

This Nikon lens does it all! What a great walk-a-round lens that could easily stay on my camera always!!! I will most likely use it for just that once I get my new Nikon D90.

Digital camera Review: Great lens with one major caveat
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently bought this lens with high hopes. I wanted to replace my Tamron 18-200 macro lens that I've dropped twice, and which now creeps terribly when pointed downward. Imagine my horror when I discovered this much vaunted Nikon lens does the same thing, brand new! A friend contacted Nikon, who told her that "excessive" creep can be adjusted somewhat, but the lens will always creep to some extent due to the way it's made. So if you never want or need to shoot something below you, buy all means, buy this lens with confidence. Otherwise, caveat emptor!

Digital camera Review: Versatile
Summary: 5 Stars

I just want to preface this review by saying that I am a casual photographer. I just purchased a Nikon D40 and was looking for a lens for this camera. I like to read the bad customer reviews for any product I buy because I want to see what the downside of a product is. I was reading a lot of reviews that spoke of focus creep, and image bending / distortion, etc, so I almost didn't purchase this lens. I instead purchased the 55-200MM lens. The first time I used the 55-200MM lens I was taking pictures at a 50th anniversary party, and while the picture quality was great, I found myself switching lens to get close up pictures (pictures of subjects closer than 10 feet away). I missed a lot of photo opportunities because I had to switch lenses. That's when I decided to purchase this lens.

Having used this lens for about a month now, I have to say that I love it! It takes amazing pictures and it is extremely versatile. Gone are the days of carry multiple lenses and switching them out. The only down side of this product is its weight. It is much heavier than the 55-200MM, but it is a small price to pay considering you don't have to carry multiple lenses and miss photo opportunities.
