Digital camera reviews of Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom Nikkor LensDigital camera Review: Best Nikon Lens I've Used Summary: 5 Stars
From film days, my favorite Nikon lens was the 24-120 zoom, but the 18-200 beats it.
Excellent contrast, great clarity and the vibration-reduction is terrific - I get about 80% of the clarity of a tripod shot with hand-held VR.
It's a lot of money, but I'm going to sell a bunch of other Nikon lenses that I don't need any more to pay the Visa bill.
Digital camera Review: Best all purpose lens in the bag! Summary: 5 Stars
There's a reason this is the hottest selling lens on the market right now. It's one of the sharpest telephotos around and is without comparison with this kind of zoom range. It's now on my camera 95% of the time. About the only time I take it off my new D300 is to put on an ultra wide lens or if the light is so low I can really benefit from a faster lens like an f/2.0 or 2.8. Great lens, great results, no regrets whatsoever. If I could only have one lens, this would be it.
Digital camera Review: Best available but could be improved...a lot! Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first lens I bought after buying the Nikon D80 with 18-135mm kit. It is hard to beat this lens for convenience since it covers so much distance. There are a lot of better glass that could be bought for a lot more money, but carrying two or three lenses is not fun for an novice like myself.
Likes:
-18-200mm focal length.
-Less sensor dust because you don't have to remove it much.
-Takes sharp enough pictures that non-pro photographers will think you are a pro.
-Price considering the cost of buying two or three lenses.
-Vibration Reduction.
Dislike:
-Lens creep.
-Not as fast or sharp in low light situations.
Bottom line:
-Until Nikon or some other company comes out with a 10-200mm f2.8, this is the best carry-around lens. It's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it can cut through most everything. I'm sure in the hands of a pro photographer this lens could be the best.
Digital camera Review: Best in Line - Nikkor does it again Summary: 5 Stars
Seriously, i could go into the details here but without a doubt this is the the best lens I have had. Its kinda all in one lens, covering my wide angle and zoom spectrums. VR, ED glass, focus meter, got it all. Great aperture band too, given its range.
Digital camera Review: Best lens ever Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the best lens I have ever owned. Focus is fast and sharp as a tack and the color is superb. The VR function is the best feature. I love being able to handhold my camera at 40th to 30th of a second and still get crisp shots. It even works well for indoor wedding shots. No need for a tripod. It works great with flash as well and those moments when you want to drag the shutter. I can't say enough about this product. It is totally worth the money paid!
