Digital camera reviews of Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Digital camera Review: Amazing lens! Good quality for a good price!
Summary: 5 Stars

The lens is amazing. It may not be auto-focusing, but that is not required for it to be a good lens. I have only used it very briefly so far, but have gotten some amazing photos with it. I usually do landscape and wildlife photography, but have been getting into doing studio/portrait photography recently and this lens fits that bill perfectly. With a tripod and gentle manual focusing, I have been able to take some pretty decent test photos so far. I cannot wait until I have my backdrop set up and am able to take some true portraits with it. I have no doubt they will turn out quite well.

Digital camera Review: Amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

Really great little lens. Easy to use and wonderful picture quality. You get a lot of bang for your buck!

Digital camera Review: Amazing, beyond what i imagined.
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely love this lense. I haven't even had it a day and already I've taken amazing pictures. Even though I'm an amateur photographer i found it very simple to figure out the way things worked with this camera. There aren't really directions to how to use it in the packaging but all i had to do was google how to use it with my d40 and in minutes i was shooting gorgeous pictures. Very good for taking photos of pets and kids, even sporting events. Amazing deal for the price i payed. You get way more than you pay for with this lense.

Digital camera Review: Amazing, especially for the price.
Summary: 5 Stars

This lens if flat out amazing but I do wish it was a little better built. The first several times I used my it was a super tight fit on my camera body. That is the only flaw I have ever noticed.
The best thing about this lens is the price.

This lens is super fast and perfect for low light situations. Actually it is perfect for just about anything. Super sharp, I like the bokeh, and again super fast. I love this lens for portraits and it is perfect for inside gyms. Here recently I have been doing some pictures for dance competitions and inside a poorly lit gym f/2.8 isn't nearly fast enough, but at f/1.8 this lens is.

Don't believe all the low reviews you read. Let's set som bad reviews straigght.

First if you camera body doesn't have a built in motor for focusing then this lens will not autofocus because it doesn't have a focusing motor. If you are going to own and operate a DSLR camera then know your camera.

Also this lens may appear soft to some people at f/1.8. It is not soft, you must know at f/1.8 you have a very shallow depth of field. If you don't know what depth of field is then don't buy this because you are to dumb to buy a DSLR and buy a point and shoot camera.

Another things if the focusing is off that is your camera focusing system and not the lens. And some say that even when manual focusing it is out of focus, no way unless that lens it straight up broken.

Digital camera Review: Amazing.
Summary: 5 Stars

This lense is amazing. Especially for its low price. I use it with a Nikon D80, and I am by no means professional and this lense, wowza. Just get it.
