Digital camera reviews of Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR CamerasDigital camera Review: First rate tack sharp lens. Best Telezoom Nikon makes Summary: 5 StarsWatch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1LM6VXM74YO1R This Nikon 70-200mm VR f/2.8 lens is the best Telezoom that Nikon makes, hands down. In this video review I give reasons why this is one of my favorite lenses, then demonstrate the lens in action on a D300 as well as give useful commentary while I handle the pair.
Digital camera Review: Nikon 70-200mm Summary: 5 StarsI love this piece of glass! I have used this primarily for indoor events with much success. I am currently working on shooting sports and other fast action, so I'll update this review once I get a chance to see some of the results.
A bit heavy to lug around all day, but definitely worth the results you get. Because of the weight, I put this on a monopod. That really helps out a lot, so if you can invest in a good one that would be ideal.
It will take some practice to get things right, but once you've found that sweet spot, you'll definitely see the difference in your pics.
For events, I would really recommend having this and a wide-angle on a second body. That way, you'll never miss an opportunity (either close up or wide range).
If you can afford it, by all means do it! Don't think about it too much... You'll be missing a lot of opportunities to photgraph a lot of great stuff!
Digital camera Review: Great lens, and your arm will get a great workout! Summary: 5 StarsI bought this lens for sports and ambient light photography on the Nikon D200. The first day I had it for three soccer games with an overcast sky. This lens did the trick, even without a tripod! After the first game I had to shake my arm to try to get the burning feeling out of the muscle. That is how big the lens is. You've been warned! You need to back up when the subject is getting near 5 feet away from you and closing, it won't focus on the subject then. Also great lens for taking pictures across a room without flash, essential when trying to get a special moment between a father and his three year old. This lens is sharp as a tack. If your pictures are out of focus, then it is user error. I do have one issue I need to read up on...indoors with normal lighting my pictures have a red tint to them. This could be to me having it at f2.8 and the light bulbs in the house. I will update this review when I find out.
Digital camera Review: 18-200 vr Summary: 4 Stars
Lovely pictures but I have found that it lacks the magnification I wish it had for shooting sports. VR is amazing and you really can leave the tripod at home. Focus is rapid and the number of fps is more than sufficient. I'm wondering if adding a teleconverter would add the optical zoom that I wish was present.
Digital camera Review: Possibly the sharpest zoom in Nikon's lineup Summary: 5 StarsThis lens is a bit heavy and unwieldy, but ignore that. This is a solid product that makes lesser lenses look cheap by comparison. As other reviewers have said, it is already a legend. Sharpness is unsurpassed. Distortion is minimal. The bokeh is perfect. This is the lens for isolating your subject from the background. I use mine for nature photography. It is perfect for photographing bald eagles on the beach.
