Digital camera reviews of Nikon 7218 Action 10 X 50mm BinocularsDigital camera Review: Great Binocular Value! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I do quite a bit of bird/critter watching, including over water. These binoculars are perfect for that purpose. The 50mm objective lens gathers lots of light allowing for greater detail. The 10 power is probably as powerful as you'd want for hand-held binoculars. And let's face...Nikon is a great name in lenses.
Digital camera Review: Great Binoculars!! Can't go wrong with Nikon!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second pair. NO, not because the first pair broke..... I keep a set in my truck and a set in the house. Looking through these reminds me of looking through the old Disney View-Master.... they are so clear the view looks almost 3-D, like an old View-Master. I show them off every chance I get.
Digital camera Review: Great binoculars for a great price! Summary: 5 Stars
I am impressed by the picture quality of these binoculars! I use them for backyard astronomy as well as bird watching. If you are wondering what 10x magnification can do: You can easily spot Jupiter's four largest moons with this thing. You can identify craters like Plato, Copernicus, and Tycho on the Moon. But no matter how steady your arms are, you will definitely benefit from a tripod. I reused my Benro tripod that I had got for my DSLR (You will need a tripod adapter for the binoculars; Nikon sells one). With a tripod, you are sure to see many features you missed in the first glance. The 50mm aperture makes terrestrial objects like birds appear bright and vivid. Overall, 10x50 makes for a great all-purpose binoculars that you can easily use with or without a tripod.
The body is well-built and feels rugged in your hands. The focus ring is very precise. The diopter control is very useful for adapting to your vision. My only wish is that they were lighter, but I can get used to the weight.
Digital camera Review: Great bins for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I truly love these binoculars. I have identified over 900 species of birds with my 10X50 action. Sure, they will get water in them, and they can fog up at the most infuriating times, but once you know how to treat them in adverse conditions they will always come through. There are better, but do not disregard the brightness and field of view of these binoculars. Under normal daylight, there is really not much better. Porro bins are great. In high contrast, low light conditions you will definitely miss some sharpness, but hey they are 80 bucks. Great for travel, never mind the bulk. Who wants to have to constantly worry about their $500 binoculars getting stolen? These binoculars have treated me very well and I highly recommend them to anyone on a budget.
Digital camera Review: Great for stargazing! Summary: 5 Stars
I got these specifically for stargazing on clear nights and I'm very pleased with them.
* Getting focused is easy, as there are two adjusters. One in the center for your left eye, and another setting you can adjust on the right eyepiece.
* They aren't heavy. I'm a female with sort of stringy arms- I'm not very strong- and I was able to hold these to my eyes for nearly 40 minutes of stargazing with no troubles.
* Holding the binoculars is sort of ergonomic to your hands.
* Crisp, sharp images. The moon just looked amazing through these, craters and all.
* The neck strap is thick and sturdy. There is a suede bit on it for comfort on your neck, but I crocheted a simple piece to slide onto the strap for added comfort. Adds warmth too!
* They come with a nice padded case and cover caps.
