Digital camera reviews of Nikon 7266 Action 10 X 40mm BinocularsDigital camera Review: Good for price Summary: 5 Stars
I was pleasently surprised on the clarity, they made a good attemp to keep the lense covers tethered on the strap, not too good though, almost there
Very good for the price!
Digital camera Review: Good product for the money Summary: 4 Stars
They work as advertised. They have good optics and are very powerful. Would be nicer if they had a wider field of view, but I got more than I paid for.
Digital camera Review: Great binocs for a great price Summary: 5 Stars
I have used these binocs in lowlight and in full sun and you have very little glare because of the multicoated lenses. The 40mm lenses, although not as large as the 50 mm do work well in lowlight conditions and night time stargazing. They produce very clear images at anywhere from 10 feet to more than 1000 ft. I would certainly buy another for a present or any of the other size binocs in nikon's lineup. They certainly know how to make an extremely high quality product for a very reasonable price. A lot of people complain about the front lens covers and I must agree with them, at least when I initially took them out of the box, but after about 10 minutes ponderng over what to do to fix the problem of an open loop on the front lens covers, I came up with a great cheap and easy fix that doesn't ruin the overall look of the binocs at all. I'll try and attach some pictures at a later date. If you are trying to keep from losing your front lens covers, I remembered I had a package of 3/32" electrician's heat shrink tubing left over from another project. I simply snipped a short length of it and slipped it over both sides of the loop and hit it with a bbq torch lighter for a couple seconds and presto chango the lens cap will now stay on any strap you affix it to and not fall off and get lost. The shrink tube creates a permanent link between the two halves of the loop and won't fall off or get damaged and if it ever does fail, it's easily removable with a razor blade and can be reapplied in under 2 minutes. Heat Shrink Tube Assortment - 10" - 3/32 to 1/4-inch
Digital camera Review: Incredible for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
I have always had binoculars. But I can safely say that I have never had a pair this sharp at anywhere near the price. They snap into focus and the image is sharp as a tack. The ergonomics are very good they fit my hands and the control is right where you expect it to be. The controls are silky smooth making focus and diopter adjustment quite precise.
The rear lens caps slip onto the neck strap where they are reasonably secure. Unfortunately Nikon couldn't come up with as good an answer for the front lens caps. They have small loop with an opening so you can clip them onto the neck strap. Not very secure. More likely they will go in my pocket. Good luck finding a replacement, Google couldn't.
The nicely padded soft case does not come with a strap. It hangs from the binocular strap when they are in the case. I still haven't come up with a good solution on what to do with it in the field. However the strap on the binoculars is nice and wide 1 1/4"
Digital camera Review: Quality at a bargain price Summary: 5 Stars
I had purchased a cheaper brand and was unhappy with the quality thus they were returned. The Nikons were purchased for twice as much but are worth much more. I use these for astronomy and some terrestrial viewing and they accomplish both very well. Image quality, fit, focus and finish are superb and the lens caps and strap are nice too.
I'll keep these in mind as a nice gift for someone.
