Digital camera Review: Great photos but EXTREMELY SLOW taking them!

First the plus side:
The camera is slim, lightweight, well constructed flash guide is good too, but not as good as the s50 for some reason, large LCD screen is top notch.
Now for the negatives:
Absolutely the SLOWEST point and shoot camera at night that I've used since the 90's!
During the day it is not so noticeable, but at night you press the button down, the orange glow lights up peoples smiling faces than nothing, sometimes it takes a painstaking 10 seconds to take one shot at night! while other times at it's best it takes 3-4 seconds... still too long for any modern point and shoot. I think that Nikon, a leader in camera innovation should be embarrassed to have their name on the front of this camera. Buy a Casio or Cannon instead they are both slim and take much faster photos!

The pictures I took with this camera were all beautiful. There's no question - it is a very intelligent camera. I didn't get one shot that was blurred, overexposed or dark. The two complaints I have with it are how slow it is and that I got a LOT of "orbs" in my pictures. This camera works so hard and performs so many calculations that it is impossible to "capture a moment." By the time the camera is ready to shoot, the moment is gone. I'm not sure what to say about the orbs other than that they were there. I ended up returning it because I just couldn't deal with how slow it was.Digital camera Review: Great pictures..but slow...

I received this for Xmas from my hubby. I wanted a camera that was small enough to carry in my purse and I liked the sleek look of it. It does take nice pictures once you figure out the different modes. Only complaint is the slowness once you are ready to take a picture. I have little kids and that means they don't sit still!! So I'm missing lots of good shots. Otherwise it's great.Digital camera Review: I do like it

I have had it for a week. It is wonderful when on a trip and I can stop at THAT chain of coffee shops and email the picturs to the family. The quality looks fine for the size camera at normal iso. The BAD thing is the damn ower button. Even in the nikon case it often turnes on accidentally. Bad design

Unfortunately I was disappointed with the Nikon Coolpix S51. It looks nice, but when taking a picture, it takes it like a second after you push the button, so the lag always messes up your shot. In the movie mode, it has a very awkward zoom that's very blocky and looks terrible.
The 3-inch screen is pretty nice but easy to get smudged.
However, despite my bad experience, if you don't use the movie mode or don't really care about lag, this seems like a nice camera otherwise. It has a lot of features (some a little too specific; but it's nice to have). I just didn't really like it, that's all.
