The image quality of this camera is below average. For a camera priced at $270 +, I would expect the image quality to be at least good if not best. This is the best camera I've ever had. It takes incredible pictures, and very easy to use. The camera has never given me problems- it works perfectly. The screen size is great and makes it easy to see what your taking a picture of.
I was stupid enough to put it in my pocket once- and then ended up falling on it and breaking it --- i sent it to get fixed- and it came back perfect.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera!

We bought this camera because, like most women, my wife wants a small camera. Expecting the best from the illustrious name "Nikon", our hopes were dashed.
The optical quality of the photographs it produced was abysmal. Most were out of focus, and those that were in focus were of very poor quality.
So we returned it for a refund, thanks for that, and bought a Canon. It is slightly larger but produces excellent photographs every time.
Stay away from this camera!

The Nikon Coolpix S51 is fantastic! It's slim and fits nicely in my purse. The picture quality has been great and the vibration reduction really works. I wouldn't trade it for another.
