Digital camera reviews of Nikon D90 12.3MP DX-Format CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom LensDigital camera Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
I just got the D90 two days ago as an upgrade from my D50. It takes amazing outdoor, daytime action shots. My kids at soccer practice were crisp, frozen perfectly mid kick. When combined with a speedflash, it takes amazing bounce-flash shots--perfect clarity, beautiful colors, no shadows, natural. I haven't used it in dark settings without the speedflash...ever since I began using an external flash, I have never gone back...and I only use the SB400, but get amazing shots.
The 18-105 lens is okay (I give it maybe 6 or 7 out of 10). Very light, fairly versatile, and just a hair soft maybe. I will buy the 18-200 soon just to avoid some of the lens switching. If I weren't so hyped on getting this camera I would have waited to buy "body only" with the 18-200 lens for added versatility.
I don't normally do in-camera editing...I use photoshop...but this camera does some neat stuff. Correcting red-eye and picture alignment--very easy. All menu options are incredibly easy. My kids were highly amused by the fish-eye adjustment, though I doubt I will ever use that.
Fits with a little extra room in the lowepro a200 slingshot with the kit lens attached.
All in all, it is a JOY to take pictures with this camera. My wife is probably a little jealous that I haven't parted with it for the last 38 hours or so!
Digital camera Review: Awesomeness in a box... Summary: 5 Stars
I had a huge problem by ordering my Nikon D90 to another website "X" , that supposedly are great with costumer service. I always buy my stuff thru Amazon but I really don't know why I didn't consider Amazon as my first choice as a source of purchase for this product. I had several problems website "X". I was so angry already because the day the product suppose to arrive its the day that I had discovered that my order was cancel. Then I rapidly accessed Amazon.com and I found the camera cheaper and it got to me the exact next day without any worries. The product was intact and as good as I was about to buy it on a nearby store (in the same box and everything". So for you that are looking to have this camera faster and cheaper (and without any worries of security and all) use Amazon.com. As the product per-se Nikon D90 is one of the best inversions on an electronically device that I ever have done... If you are an amateur or professional photographer in your intermediate level, that is looking for that next step, Nikon D90 its the camera for you... So dont think twice on order it.
Digital camera Review: Awsome camera - brings life to pictures..... Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned many cameras like many of you including some of the latest slim designs - they are all great to carry around but I think one doesn't knwo what quality of picture unless one uses this beast. It has given us more reasons to take picture and it excellent response time is a pleasure to capture real moments.
BTW, I am not an expert but number of complements I have got for my pictures are mind blowing - we also took pictures along side experts in Disney world recently and it so turns out our pictures are order of magnitude better than what they could do......
Only downside of this beast is its size - carrying this around is not easy but for now we are choosing a great experience and output versus convenience......if money is not an object this is the camera to go for - both for casual photographers as well as for professionals...
Digital camera Review: Barring the video feature a Grade A product from Nikon Summary: 5 Stars
I have had several SLR bodies from Nikon and I have to say I feel very pampered with the D90. The Auto ISO and ADR (Adaptive Dynamic Range) make all forms of shoot SO much more convenient than a SLR that does not have these features. I truly can not imagine stepping backwards from these features. I love how high the ISO can go without showing obvious noise. I set Auto ISO to max out at 3200, set my aperture as large as I can get away with and just start shooting.
The build quality is awesome. Nikon bodies just feel substantial in my hand. Every low to mid level body made by Canon feels like a cheap toy in my hands, but not my D90.
This camera will soon be replaced by some newer body, but if you have the opportunity to buy this used or on the cheap DO SO! You will not regret it. Even if a new model brings better video features (which would be very welcome) the camera traits of the replacement surely would be only baby steps better. From what I have seen of the D7000 which is actually a higher level model, I can say there is no (non-video) feature that is a leap in convenience or image quality.
If you don't believe me Ken Rockwell has some awesome statements about this camera. Read what he says at KenRockwell.com. If all of these other comments have not convinced you then maybe he will.
Digital camera Review: Best All time Amatuer Photographer Camera Summary: 5 Stars
Its my first DSLR, when I decided to pursue photography as an amatuer and i didnt quite know what to expect. I have had it for 2 years now. I can say, because of how good this camera is, I am totally hooked onto photography. Its just very difficult to take bad pictures with this camera even if you try. ALl you have to do is dont use the onboard flash. All the funtions are placed logically and after couple of months of playing with it, its very easy to figure out where all the functions are. Nikon is known for DSLRs anyway. The build quality is very good for the price point. I bought mine for 1400 with a 18-105 mm lens in the package. The only downside, not with the camera but with Nikon is that they charge you a ton of money for softwares that can edit RAW files, Camera Control etc. I hear Nikon released their latest upgrade D7000 at this price point. I think if you are starting of into photography, get the D90. A good camera that takes good pictures 2 years ago still takes good pictures now. With D7000 out, D90s will become a great bargain and so much more worth the money now. And you can invest those savings in buying some good lenses.
