Digital camera reviews of Nikon D90 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)Digital camera Review: 99.9%--almost perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
The Nikon D90 is an almost perfect SLR. I still do not like Nikon's 1.5x multiplier with lens focal length, but I have gotten used to it. Unless you happen to be doing a lot of smaller room photography (which I do, as a Real Estate photographer) then this is a negligible gripe. Video and live-view are awesome additions over the D80, though for some reason I would like to see 1080p @ 30fps. I don't know why, but since it's a standard, I think it would have been easy enough for a 12.3 MP camera to include...
Other than those two small gripes everything else about the D90 is flawless. 12.3 MP is enough for one of those Big-Macs you see on the side of the McDonald's semi trucks, and unless you crop like crazy in your graphics editor, you should rarely ever need more than 6 MP. The live-view is awesome, especially if you are trying to photograph over the tops of crowds at sporting events. (Something that was impossible to get right with a D80.) The huge screen is large enough to watch the entire Star-Wars saga on. Okay, I exaggerate, but it is very beautiful. Button placement is perfect, and coupled with the literally thousands if not millions of Nikon accessories out there, it is a no-brainier. While the D90 is a very large camera, it has everything to do anything. If you are looking at cameras, please stop and just get this one. You really won't regret it.
On a side-note, I HIGHLY recommend getting a wireless remote for the D90. They are less than fifteen bucks, and allow you to take clear photos at very low ISO and slow shutter speeds, should you need to, coupled with a tripod. =)
Digital camera Review: A Beautiful Machine Summary: 5 Stars
I work as a freelance photographer occasionally shooting weddings and events.
The images produced by this camera are beautiful. I highly recommend this camera as an upgrade from any of the lower nikon models including the d80.
The pros: Great image quality. Good in low light (some reviews have said that this is a problem with the d90, I do not agree with them.) Auto Focus is fast and accurate. Great battery life (really impressive) It makes you want to hold it even when there are no pictures to take.
Cons: Video without auto focus is kind of lame. Limited video time. But video is not very important to me.
As a camera 5 stars. As a video camera 1 star.

I think most of us buying D90 would be someone like me. Goto review website for technical review and skip the rest. Read mine if you use it like I do. Here you go. Enjoy!
I have a D50 and just bot a D90. I shoot primary my daughters' school events usually indoor in a gym or threater. I have some of Nikon better F2.8 glasses. With indoor lighting and action such as TKD. The results are sometimes less than satisfactory. When using flash, the subject is well lit but the background would be dim. (you could solve this placing multiple flashes in the GYM like the professionals) when not using flash, you get hand shakes and motion blur. I shot my daughter's TKD blackbelt test yesterday, the D90 blew me away. Here is what it does, on Sport mode with Flash, it selected ISO 1100, F4 and 1/60. subject is well lit, the back kick is frozen to show the form, the foreground and background of the GYM were well lit. The white balance is perfect. I could not have done a matter job myself in manual mode! At the same sport mode, D50 chose ISO 500, F5.6 and 1/60. The subject is well lit, the gym background faded into darkness. When not using flash, D50 just can't get the white balance correct no matter how i set it. D90 white balance was perfect.
The D90 giant colorful LCD really tells instantlly if I have got the shot. I would buy D90 again just for catching the highlights of my daughter's belt test.
D90 is actually the same size of D50. D50 felt more comfortable in my hands initially, but after 3 hrs, the D90 felt just better. It could be a weight issue. I don't know why.
So bye bye to my wonderful D50. Hello to D90.
Further edit:
After a few weeks, it is clear Active D lighting works wonder. It lights up details which are lost when using a Canon 5D without post-processing. I would buy it again just for that. The custom FUNC is also a welcome addition. I set it to open my favorite menus making everything fast. I used to use flash whenever indoor. You don't need to do that in most cases anymore. I shot Halloween at Hollywood Blvd, pictures have good color and exposure using available light. It was unimageable with the D50.
Good shooting!
Digital camera Review: A LOT of camera for the cash Summary: 5 Stars
I've had the D90 for about a month and can't recommend it highly enough. My main camera for the last 4 years has been a Nikon D50. I also have an assortment of Nikon Af & af-d lenses, and I wanted to continue to use them (the D5000 lacks the necessary motor for the older lenses to autofocus). I shoot a lot of live theatre, and so low-light/high iso performance is important to me, and the D90 delivers extremely well up to 1600. Noise is well-controlled, and looks a lot like film grain. Once you learn how to mess around with the picture controls in the menus, jpegs can look stunning. Raw NEF files seem to need less processing after than the ones from my D50. The screen is big, bright & colorful. There are a ridiculous number of custom settings for almost every function, which means you can do a lot to configure the camera to the way you like to shoot. There are a lot of buttons & two wheels--almost too many controls--but with a little practice you can access almost any function you're likely to need in the act of shooting without menu-diving. I also do a lot of flash photography, and the highly-variable ISO control in conjunction with the ease of tweaking the white balance means a lot less time fixing color in Lightroom or photoshop. It also has Live View--but I'm not so crazy about that function. The autofocus in LV is slow, and taking a shot is noisy one loud click when the mirror gets out of the way, then the shutter, then the mirror jumping out of the way again (I think...). One other niggle: the multi-point autofocus doesn't work so well in low-contrast situations--ever since I changed it to the center point, I've never had a focus problem. I haven't shot any moving subjects yet, which is what it's designed for. I also haven't used the video function--newer cameras have much better implementation of this feature. In short: beautiful images, customizable, many pro features at a consumer price. Don't hesitate.
Digital camera Review: A good option to buy Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted a very good DSLR , looked the D300 and Canon 50D but I inclined to NIKON .
Then the D90 came to the market and I was a little confused and a couldnt decide betwen both D300 and the D90
The differences are just a few and I can live with out them. The body construction, SD card(D90) instead Compact flash (D300) 11 point for Auto focus instead 50 ...
The price difference allows me to buy an extra battery, memory cards a good caring case, filters, different accessories and in the near future the GPS unit (I'm waiting the releasing from NIKON)
The only difference that bothers me a little is that the D90 grip is a little small for me in comparison from the D300 but besides that everything is fine. For this issue you can buy the Nikon MB-D80 Multi-Power Battery Pack, but don't think this will increase the the shoots per second you can take as in the D300, only increases the battery duration and allows you to use AA batteries, also gives you a vertical position shutter button.
Very easy to use and understand ALL the functions and buttons, not complicated menus.
I bought the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX (the same that comes with the D300 KIT) instead the one that comes with the with because I wanted a more powerful lens and also I read as this lens is better quality and believe me IT IS AMAZING
If your are not pro and only want a VERY GOOD DSLR professional style this is a good and wonderful option, believe me
You'll no regret
