This item is easy to install and use. It saved me the headache of crawling behind my entertainment center every time I needed to change audio sources. It's a must have if your optical inputs are limited.
Digital camera Review: A Good Product... With A Little Tweaking Summary: 4 Stars
I just got one of these for myself today, and it's a pretty good device.
The only problem I had was with the In/Out connector on the back. Other reviewers had mentioned they had an issue with the fiber cable not staying plugged into this connector. I had the same problem.
Being a tinkerer, I decided to fix mine. It's fairly easy to do, and I'm uploading pictures to show just how.
The connector is spring loaded inside. Mine had two springs on it and were too heavy for the retainer on the end of the cable to stay engaged. Two springs are supposed to keep the two pieces of fiber pressed together to ensure the most signal possible.
Two springs are too much for this task, so I removed one. The single spring doesn't push the plug out of the connector, and the unit works just as well as before.
Enjoy!
Digital camera Review: A Good Solid Piece of A/V Equipment Summary: 5 Stars
I used the Digital Audio Optical Toslink 3-Way Selector Switch with an old AVR that had only one audio optical input and can now feed this old AVR with three optical inputs at the turn of a switch. The switching mechanism looks solid and engages each optical input port with a positive locking feel. I've had no problems with this unit and heartily recommend it.
Digital camera Review: A Wise Choice Summary: 5 Stars
The Nyrius SW100 Digital Audio Optical Toslink 3 Input Selector Switch has proved to be a wise choice in purchasing. It is well built and sturdy. It has the added functionality of having a depressive finger lock button. When you switch to a specific source it clicks into place and stays put. No more pulling Toslink cables and having to find the end cover protectors. Now I have all three components cables in a safe area and the switch looks quite smart with my system. Do yourself and your Fiber Optic Cables a favor and purchase one of these well built switches today.
Digital camera Review: A decent optical switch. Summary: 4 Stars
This optical selector switch is very easy to use. This will solve practically all your problems when it comes to a lack of inputs and outputs. The ability to use this as an input or output selector makes it very useful. The "push-->select" switch is good as it stops on the connection and keeps it locked in position.
I would give this product five stars, but I did receive a faulty device the first try. It failed after a few weeks. It seemed to have issues keeping the amplitude for the optical devices at peak strength. I use highly-shielded fiber lines, so I can't comment on signal strength at range, as my furthest distance is about six feet.
Great for the price and works as described.
